Found a great deal on an 04' Touring...
I'm new to this forum and have been interested in a Z for quite a long time. I was looking thorugh the newspaper at school and noticed a brand new 04' 350z touring. Its superblack on black, 6spd, w/ side-airbags. The asking price is $27,141. My dad said he wants to get me the Z in a few months. I want a 05' 6spd daytona blue enthusiast but sticker on that is $29,920. And i know there has been no major changes to the 05's. So if you were in my postion what would you do???? Also how can i tell if it is an 2004.5 or 2004. Im not sure if this helps but the vin# is JN1AZ34E54M150303. Help me out here, thanks alot.
P.S. This forum is really helpful. I am addcited to this fourm whenever I hop on the computer this is the first website I visit and I don't even have a Z yet...

i say buy and sell it for a profit. haha. get the one u really want, the on you're in love with.
and why the hell is ur dad buying you a 350z? my parents bought me a 1988 corolla worth $2000 when i turned 18. i hate it when parents spoil their kids. not cuz im jealous, well maybe a little, but mostly i dont feel it teaches them how to be independent. i had my corolla for 3 years, then i bought my 96 civic with my own money, ive had that for 3 years, now im going to buy a 350z with my own money. the satisfaction of knowing u did it on ur own is so much more fulfilling.

Yea, but if my parents want to get me a car and the oppurtunty is there, i cant turn it down. I know things are better appreciated when bought with your own money but if you guys could get back to me about seeing if the car is an 2004 or 2004.5. Thanks alot!

Are you talking about the Z at Bill Cook Nissan in Farmington Hills? I believe they have 1 touring left. One way to tell if it's a 2004.5 is by the build date on the window sticker that shows the prices and options. Mine is a 2004.5 and was built in July 2004. I believe the 2004.5 and 2005 are almost identical. Black is a nice color, but you should get the 3M stuff for the front bumper/hood.

Black is my second choice, But this is really a deal that I cant pass up because I would have it for this summer instead of getting it at the end of the summer. Also this will be my first car. It is a manual but that is what I have been wanting. Never driven a manual before but I'm sure I will like it. This will also be my ONLY car but we have 5 other cars in the family and one is always avaialble if i ever need to drive it in the winter when i cant drive the Z. I am really thankful to have the oppurtunity to get a great car like this at my age. I know all of must of you worked your @$$ off to get where you are and to earn and pay for your car by yourself, but like i said before i wont say no and just settle or for a civic. I'm sure if you guys had the oppurtunity at my age to get a Z, that you would. I dont want you guys to be pissed at me or anything just because i am younger, I'm not gonna be like "HA HA HA i got a z and im only 17" and all that b/s. I will have the up most respect for you guys as you do for me.
Thanks for all your input, I will head up to the dealership on monday(4-25-2004) and we will see what happens. BTW the lease is $394 w/ only 10K a year if thats good or not. Which is a better deal to buy for $27,141 or lease for $394??

congrats on your new car. You might want to think about how much your insurance will be. At your age, I would think it will be quite high. About the manuf. date, you can also try looking at the sticker inside the door jam.
If I were "given" a Z, I would opt for the purchase. If I had to pay for it myself, I would lease it. Your payments will be much lower, but your insurance payment will be a little higher if the car is leased. 10,000 miles/yr is not very much (I have 15K) if its a daily drven car. Also check when they say $394/mo, most likely that doesn't include the taxes, nor down payment.
Good luck in your new Z, and please act responsibly when driving around...I'm sure your parents will appreciate it!

Just to forewarn you. The car has quite a bit of power so be VERY VERY careful when you drive it for a few thousand miles. Especially since its a manual. Don't take off the VDC until your positive you know what the car can and can't do (not much it can't ).
Anyhow not trying to scare you, but I nearly hit a curb with this car when I started driving it hard and it scared the crap out of me. The rear end just flys out on a turn if you shift from first to second in a rear wheel drive car and your trying to break the wheels.
I'm rambling now...ENJOY THE ZZZZZZ!!!!

Thanks for the input guys, I drove my brothers friend's Z and it was ZWEEET!!! He has an AT 2004 CS enthusiast has alost near 10k miles and the dam feathing problem occured. But i dont think i'm going let that problem get to me. The way I think is that whatever car you get your going to expect a problem or 2. For example my brother bought his 03' Acura Cl-Type-S knowing there was a problem with the transmission but that didnt hold him back from getting it. He is on his second tranny right now. His first one blew out at 25K miles. If you were in my postion would you get the 04' touring now or wait unitl August and get the 05' enthusiast(W/ the new suspension thingy). Some more feedback would be helpful, Thanks alot guys!

I`ve had multiple dealers admit to me that sticker price shouldn`t even be looked at. What I think you should do is check KBB invoice on the car, and try to get a few thousand off that, since it`s a leftover and doesn`t neccessarily qualify as brand new.. at least not as far as i`m concerned.

Geez, $27 K for a new 04 Touring is a hell-of-a-deal. Go get it.
I swear if someone said the dealer was giving them the car free at least one person would say "go someplace else...I got my dealer to throw in free insurance in addition to the car"! LOL!

thats not a bad deal
Im picking up my 04 enthusiast tuesday got it at 22995 with 8k miles.. kbb was like 28k im financing it for $370 with 1500 down Im happier buying a slightly used Z than leasing one. So just keep looking autotrader.com is a great resource most dealers offer internet prices lower than sticker prices on the lot but still mark them up a % so they will haggle sometimes. Best thing to do is find 2 or 3 choices and let the dealers haggle it out in your interest thats what i did. I also found a 03 touring with 27k for 24995 so i guess your getting a decent deal but beaware paper ads are somtimes BS.

Hey man,
Don't let the haterz get to ya lol! But seriously, I think if anyone was in your same position they would jump right on it. I mean comeon how and why would you turn down a 350z at that age?! Besides, theres kids with nicer cars, and theres kids with worse.
I vote on purchasing the 04' Touring. You will have something really fun for the summer and if you still want the blue one, you can just get a job and work for the difference between the blue one and yours!
I picked up an 03' Z, i forget exactly what the name is, but its the one with leather and heated seats, right below the track model for 21k. I've never looked back.
They are awesome cars, I love them to death. If you ever wanna chat with a young Z owner like urself hit me up on AIM: Jtlacrozmaster
Good luck with your purchase!
