www.autotrader.com

Offer them less than what they are asking, start with offering 30% less and work your way up as you feel.

You have these options:

Go into autotrader.com, search for Nissan 350z within X miles of your zip code. For price range go from 0 to a couple grand over what your absolute spending limit is, because you can always negotiate the price down.

Or look in the local paper.

Or www.cars.com

What sort of accident? Walk up to her with 18k cash and ask if she wants to sell. If not well then just walk away and don't look back.

Wow! an accident? man, yeah, depends on the details, but that kills it. By the way, blue book is total crap. Just try and get $19k for trade-in, its NOT going to happen. Even if it was clean, that might be a $17K-$18K trade. Like I said before, $20K is ALL the money. BUT, that was before I know of the accident and existing damage! But, since it didn't float yer boat and you have doubts, forget this one.

NDNFBI - 45K mile '03 Enthusiast? $19.5K is not such a bad starting point. AGAIN, if its clean and no accidents, I'd be thinking $18K .... maybe climb to $18.5 if I just could live without it. BUT, with your budget, you should be able to pick up one with TINY miles for $21-$22k, and you'd be much better off.

It seems like a fair deal to me, maybe not a great deal, but nothing to complain to the owner about either. And the ad does say OBO, so if you really want it you can negotiate a little bit, and that will probably lower the price some. Either way, if you get it or you keep looking for something else, welcome to the community, and never be afraid to ask questions (unless you are asking how old you were when you got your Z ) Good luck on your purchase!!!

zzzya, are you a pharmacist? If so, cool, that is what I am in school for. Should be out in a year or two. Just thought I would ask...
Yes, I am a pharmacist. Good luck with school!! It is pretty nice knowing that I can find a good paying job almost anywhere I would ever want to go and since my wife is a pharmacist too, it helps even more!!

For some reason I thought the 5AT was only available on the touring model in 03 unless the car came from Canada which offered that option back then. Hmmm.

Well, I've seen plenty of '03s with less than 19K on the clock. I consider that pretty tiny. HOwever, I'm sure this varies depending on where you live. The lack of good Z weather here in the northeast can certainly account for all these Zs with low miles around here.

They can ASK whatever they want. After its sitting there for a while with no bites, they will TAKE much less. Good luck. Just keep looking, its when you get in a rush that you wind up overpaying.

WOW! Now THAT is a great example of TINY miles!
I would definitely step up to the plate on that one given that its practically brand new. Again, if no hits, run, errors, I might be inclined to climb up to like $23K. (i consider $24K steep because leftover '04s on the dealer lots were just getting $2K rebates ... invoice on the Enthusiast is about $27K, right? So figure $25.5K or so was buying price on those leftovers ... since this is used, I can't see breaking $23K on it.)

Marlboro is VERY close to where I live.

So did you get it? I have to say I'm glad you found what you were looking for, if not be patient. I know how that is though because I recently purchased my 05 almost a month ago. I hate to walk out of the lot empty handed but you gotta play it smart. Anyway, the reason i posted was to find out if you looked into purchasing a new one? If you do the math, a used car at that price range vs a brand new one will amount to the same monthly payment. Reason being the financing on a new car can got up to 5+yrs and a used will top at 3 years. But it all depends on your financing situation. If you can get a loan for a new one, I highly recommend that you look into it. But if your payments on a new car is higher, look at it this way - Whats 30-50 dollars more a month for a new one gonna hurt? Nothing beats that new car smell, and the feeling of being the first owner. Good luck.
