Yep, received the re-designed Potenza's. We'll see how long these last.

I've heard back from my dealer late yseterday afternoon....They said they will have to change the front tires in order to completely fix the issue. However, they have to get permission from nissan before they give me free tires. I should know sometime this morning about the fate of my tires. This whole process is ridiculous. This is their product. They should stand by it whether it's functioning properly or f'd up with NO hassle to the customer. This problem is no fault of mine. I hate always having to keep my gaurd up when it comes to taking my car in for service.

If someone does file a class action, it will include all owners of the specific year that the suit addresses - that is the definition of a "class action". If there is a settlement or an award, all owners would be notified and given the option of accepting, or declining and pursuing on their own. Most class actions result in millions for the lawyers and peanuts for the class. Don't hold your breath!

YUP! Winning a class action lawsuit would probably result in a free oil change for owners. lol

THIS IS RIDICULOUS!! I just got off the phone with my dealer. They tell me that the first request for new tires was rejected because the car is over 12k miles. They're now putting in a "goodwill request" and maybe that will work, but they won't know for another week! They tell me that the car is suppose to perform like this. The camber and toe is set that aggressively so the Z will perform better than an average car. I can agree with that statement, but no nissan engineer is going to create a car that causes that much wear on the inner part of the tire. Something is not set right obviously according to the hundreds of posts and TSBs concerning this problem.

Well I have a 04 350Z and got off the phone with the dealer and NNA and I was told if the car has over 12K mile that they will not beable to do anything but put in a goodwill request and the dealer said that most goodwill request get denied and my car has 16.5K on it. I guess I am screwed. the best bet for us that are screwed would be a class action law suite just to make a statement that this is wrong. develope a car but develop it so that is does not wear irregular this this would have been posted on the buyers sticker or know in motorsports I would not have bought the Z. I would have bought the Vett or Porsche Boxer. Well I guess I will see what happens to the Goodwill request.

It can't be fixed without suspension redesign, period. So if you want to keep the car be prepared to spend $$$$ twice a year for tires and alignments. I am suing NNA for a full refund in NJ. I told them to just credit me the 38k for the car with an Infinity dealer, told to f-ck off basically. I would have bought the M35x and paid the difference, but again I got the f-uck off.
Now when I win I get the 38k for the car, plus tax, plus interest I paid on loan, plus extended warranty fee, and reg fees. Idiots are going to shell out almost 50k for sheer stupidity. On top of all that NNA has to pay my attorney's fees in NJ.
Call your local BBB and start your Lemon Law complaint now. Your state might be like NJ that provides the attorney's fees be paid by NNA as well.

There is some reason why the feathering is occuring. It's not a tire issue because both 17 and 18 wheel have it. Changing to tires with a better wear rating probably only delays the issue. I really think there is a bump steer issue that needs to be looked at.

If there are any alignment shop owners in the Socal area I'd like to try something to see if the geometry changes drastically under compression. I'm guess it's either bumping too much toe (either in or out). It's easy to see if this is happening I just need to find somebody that wants to try it out.

Also I don't think the camber is the issue. I know that there are some aftermarket front suspension out there that adds the camber adjustment, but when I questioned Stillen directly they said it wouldn't fix the problem.

i have a 04.5 with 18.2K miles. my tires started feathering at about 14K miles and took it in at 17K miles. Cerritos nissan in california said that my car is all within specs. BS got lots of feather wear on my front tires. rear windshield wiper squarter squarts under wide open throttle with headlights on. they claim there is no problem. BS!! rear suspension squeeks when i enter or exit the car. they claim its the rear tires and i have to get new tires. BS!!! upper headliner rattles at 40MPH. claims theres no problems. BS!!!! driver seat bolster worn down and faded. they claim no warranty cause its not ripped yet. BS!!!!! called NNA 1-800-nissan-1 and they said they will get back to me by tomm. after that if nothing works out, im taking it to BAR/BBB and taking it up to small claims and try to have them buy back my car. is it possible for them to buy back my car without having any repair orders with the same problem 3 times? lemon law in other words. well hopefully they fix my car! i will let you guys know whats going on tomm. DISSAPOINTED IN NISSAN!

dh21187 - I think you should "if" not "when"; I personally know one owner in Ohio who took Nissan to arbitration through the BBB, and he had many issues with his car, not just the feathering and he lost his case. They did offer him $600 to go away, but they are NOT going to buy his car back. Lemon laws are different in every state as there is no Federal statute and maybe NJ has a good one for consumers; Ohio has a great one if it comes down to safety issues but Nissan has convinced the authorities that it is not dangerous so that won't work here. Nissan is digging deep into the trenches on this car and while I ***** as much as anyone, I don't expect to them to do much. BTW, my business partner had multiple problems with a 2001 Ford Windstar and won his lemon law case without even using an attorney - unless your attorney is working strictly on contingency, you are risking more out of pocket by using him.

How many miles did you have on it? Were you past the 1 year/12k mile adjustment waranty period?

I've got an 04 that's starting exhibit the cupping/feathering, but I'm definitely past 1 year and at ~16K miles now.

No, I was not past the 1 yr/12k mark. I had about 7500mi on the odo when I took it in, maybe a little more. If I were you, I'd take it in and see what happens.

Hahahaha. What do you guys expect? It's Nissan afterall. Hell, even Infiniti service was this bad. I think that Nissan must be the worst Japanese car company in terms of customer service. My mentality is... I bought the car, now it's my responsibility. Should have gotten a Lexus or BMW if you want the dealership to actually listen.

I also have an 04 with tire capping and got the same response you did from Nissan. Until I told them that they are leaving me no choice but to take them to small claims court and SUE!!!!
I told them I would subpoena there service advisor and mechanic that told me I had the same exact problem as 03's but they would not help me out. I guess they figured it would cost less to fix than fight. They finally came off their position of saying no and they are fixing the problem with new tires and alignment.

I have a 04 and my tires our gone. I have almost 10k on the car and i've had to bring it in aleast 3 times because of the rear end making noise and how when i turn into a driveway it messes with the steering and pedels. They haven't fixed the problem so I'm going to take to vallejo nissan (13miles away) and see what they have to say. But my back tires... gone..

And its really starting to **** me off

I have an 04 tour that the tires were gone at 10K started around 7-8K i think. I thought it was the brakes making the noise. They replaced them.
They also told me if it happens again, it's my problem.
