Actually there are a few, and they're EURO spec. left hand drive cars...

since when is the m3 anywhere near aggressive-looking. the bottom line is, if you're not a car enthusiast you probably wont tell the difference between it and a normal 3series.

Ok I am not a 350Z owner, but I have a few questions. As a 15-16yo I used to obsess over the 300ZX and tried to buy one but they were always too expensive used. Anyway, I loved the shape, engineering, T-tops, and everything else about it, but I realized it was an overpriced, sluggish, overweight touring GT kind of car that simply was too much money for buyers/economy at the time so it was discontinued. Nevertheless, although the Z looks were aging, I was still sad that they discontinued it and didn't refresh the look or something.

So 6 years pass and they come out w/ the 350Z, which supposedly harkens back to older Z heritage and is produced as the "affordable" sports car that the 300ZX wasn't. I saw one going down the road a week ago and I liked the shape of it and was interested in it so I called some dealers and all told me I couldn't drive it until I bought it and added in some arrogance and a poor attitude telling me my money wasn't good enough and there are plenty of people that would gladly buy the Z if I refused to put money down and sign on the dotted line before I even got to look at it or test drive the car. Anyway, I understand people want 0 mileage Z's, but their stand-offish attitude and arrogance is horrible. I can go to infiniti and drive a G35 or to BMW and drive any M series car as well as tons of cars that are more expensive, have better performance, etc. so although they want to keep joy test-drivers down, they are going a little to far when they tell me off over the phone.

I thought that the Nissan's 350Z could be either a very well performing sports car that costed $35-40k and performed better than BMW M3's etc. but w/ less of the brand name and luxury and add-ons OR it could be an affordable sports car that offered driving fun and luxury at a lower price tag than any other company/offers. However, it seems like the 350Z is once again just like the aging 300ZX - overpriced and not a phenomenal performer. For a few grand more you can buy a BMW that has much better sales, customer service, resale value, brand image, luxury/standard options, AND better performance. I understand that maybe buying the base or lower models is a better buy, but the Touring/Track models do not offer the craftsmanship, materials, uniqueness, and performance of a sports car that costs $35-40k imho. Nissan had such opportunity with this car but although it is a nice car, I couldn't see spending almost $40k for a 2 seater that only holds two people (which would be fine if its goal was performance/sports car) but at the same time had lackluster performance (which would be fine if its goal was luxury/touring) and the car is mostly plastic and has cheap interior parts. The old 300ZX had twin turbos, suede/alcantera, leather standard, and many technological advancements that were ahead of its time.

I have always liked Z's and I like this new 350Z, but I was just asking why people don't think this car is overpriced and misdirected? I mean, if you want an affordable sporty, good performing car, why not get a Subaru WRX which is a much better deal, much faster/better handling, and fits more people? Haha I don't like Subaru's but this is just an example...

Also, will the Z offer sunroof or T-tops or targa in the future? Will it have any other variants like the Twin Turbo version? Don't you see the parallels to the 300ZX? If they introduce the TT it will be another few grand and once again it will be a $40-45k 2 seater car that doesn't have phenomenal performance or utility and the economy is slow and the same thing is going to happen to the ill-fated 300ZX. What really stinks is now that they are coming out w/ the RX-8 and Supra, it seems like they will both be just like the 350Z - a bunch of compromises that sacrifice performance for comfort/luxury and sacrifice comfort/luxury for performance which will yield a car that performs ok (but other autos do much better) and a car that doesn't have that high quality or exclusivity in materials and is just a glorified Toyota Celica or something like that. What is the difference between the Toyota Celica and 350Z by the way? Why is the Nissan SO much more money?

I'm not posting this as a personal attack against the 350Z, I just really like Z's and wish that they could have done more w/ it or priced it differently or had different goals for it and I was hoping for input from you all so that you could change my mind or give alternate viewpoints besides you suck Z's are awesome...
Do you not know your own age? 15/16?

ScottC - lol that post was a long time ago. If you read the post, it says that a few years AGO when i was 15-16 i remembered seeing the last gen 300ZX's (note the use of past tense in my sentence in the original post). It did not say that "hello, I am either 15 or 16 years old I do not know. What is the point of your post after like 2 weeks and someone else already mentioning it and being corrected by another member?

OK, so dmcgibbo's exaggerated things again. The time span from Nov. 25 to Dec. 1 was only 6 days, not the "like 2 weeks" that he cited above. Also, these days were during the week of a holiday, so maybe everyone did not want to read his "thesis". After posting a National Enquirer-like headline of "why I don't like the 350Z - from a 15/16 year old" to try to get a rise out of everyone, maybe not everyone actually wanted to read his post (eg., Scott). So he's not 15/16; he's 21/22 or whatever. What next? "I let OJ drive my Sunset Z"...........only to find out it was really an orange Datsun B210 and it was really Otis Jackolantern, his brother-in-law?

damn waynetn why aren't you like "why don't you read a post correctly before you waste bandwidth replying to something that you don't have the reading comprehension to understand"? a lot of board members jump on people sooooo quickly if someone mistypes a word or misreads something or has an opinion different than their own. why don't you just enjoy your car instead of complaining about other people on the board?

by my post geez that was like 2 weeks ago why would you read through all that and then post something like that was just a comment of why would you repost a criticism like that when you don't even read the original post and it was already covered. i know this thread is stupid, it has dragged on and on, and i wish it would end haha

my original post a long time ago was more of a post to see people's reactions b/c i was really frustrated w/ dealers and venting about direction nissan is going w/ design, etc. and i know it came out negative but all of that has already been covered in this thread several times. i have found a friendly dealer, gotten to sit in and turn on and fall in love w/ the Z just like the old one and now am soon going to order one.

Default So what did you expect?

You know.....you post a subject like "why I don't like the 350Z - from a 15/16 year old" and you complain when you get a rise out of someone. I was just takin' up for Scott. That's all. Sorry if I offended you. It's been a long day. I appologize, OK?

haha everything is cool. didn't mean to be harsh in my reply. the subject line of this thread was just over the top and i realize that and apologize but that is before i got to see the Z and try it out and i understand why it got a negative reaction from the board and everything but the bottom line is, especially if you already have a Z, enjoy it haha i just wish this thread would die

its so sad what's happening to the bmw's under the design head chris bangle. i LOVE the e39 M5 - www.bmwm5.com is a great forum w/ some really cool people. anyway, the new 5 series pics are um not that great but hopefully when it comes out it will be ok. Bangle's flame-surfacing design and "bangle-butt" huge rear end designs are horrible and all the problems w/ the 7series is disheartening. Its weird that bmw is taking that road while Mercedes is taking the path of designing all of their cars to look exactly the same and boring (oh but the e55 is nice). The only thing that sucks about that is if you pay over 100k for an sl55 or cl600 or something and it looks the same as a c class haha. oooh i hope the new 5 series comes out ok. if you wanna see spy pics of the 5series and 6 series, go to www.autospies.com or the bmw forum both are cool resources.

ahhh why'd they change the title to that tho? hey mods change the title to 350z long thread don't bother reading LOL not "why i don't like from a 15/16 year old" that makes no sense. anyway. its ashame about the detonation of m3's and exploding explorer's and all the other exploding imploding recalled cars out there - lets get some quality control up in here! its good to see that (although this generation Z is young) there aren't major problems or recalls

350z is 350z. m3 is m3.
Although I love z (that's why i'm here), but some of you should realize that m3 is not in the same class with z.

Default you are right!

Yes, it is true, the m3 is not in the same class as the Z. It is over priced and based on a sedan. The bottom line is a nissan is more dependable than a BMW. I know you guysd hate to admit it but BMW's have just an average service record. Just because it cost more does not mean it is better unles you think paying 2-3 times as much to get it serviced means you are a better person.

well, I was trying to say that m3 is something that is famous in the racing history.

Hate to admit but 02 m3 owns Z in every spec performance wise.

It's not an over priced IMO, m3 is sweet and juicy car, which I would like to get when I get little bit more wealthy.

For now, even Z is too much for me already.

Exterior and Interior is personal preference.

I give thumbs up for z's exterior over m3. but m3 looks nice too.

but I give thumbs up for m3's exterior over Z.

but look at the price diff. shouldn't compare those two.

You should've seen "the new turbo neon is going to smoke the RSX-s" thread in www.clubrsx.com

yeah neon srt-4. stage I, II, and III.

It's also going to smoke the Z.

(but who cares! it's a peon! )

It's more than 117 pages already.

I think that's the most infamous thread ever to be created in message board history!
