Default Brickyard owners!

Still enjoying the color?

I get looks and comments everywhere I go, even if the car isn't so clean (and not yet Zaino'd, sorry Bonz).

The people that see the car on a cloudy, rainy day are amazed when they see it in the sunlight. They say that it is a totally different car. I agree.

I love the car in any lighting, but it really blows me away in the sunlight.

Every single person that has seen it has commented to me on how beautiful the color is. It's really a hard color to describe unless you can see it in person. Definitely two different colors whether it's day or night!

You have to see this color in person to really appreciate it.

Most of the pictures I have seen do not show off right. In sunlight the gold metal flake really shows.

I was dead set on Daytona Blue, now I think Brickyard…..

For those of you who have seen it in person, am I correct in describing it as a "metallic plum" color? That's the closest I can think of, based on the pics I've seen.

ddtreadway...

I, like you, am living the good brick-life! Get the same type of compliments. Everyone who has seen another color 350Z (no matter what color) say they like the Brickyard better once they see it in person.

510dat....

When people ask me (before they see my car), I describe it as a metallic wine color, but I suppose metallic plum is fairly accurate, too!

I love the color - also get lots of comments. Several people have mentioned that in certain light it has a brown cast. I haven't seen it in a light that brings out the blue I would expect if you were going to say metallic plum. Metallic wine seems to fit better IMHO.

Metallic wine is a good description. VQ, check the thread about the DC meet - that's where that pic came from.

If only I would have seen it a long, long, long time ago.

But this isn't so bad.

VQ, here's a closer look at the metallic flake in the paint on the Brickyard - very evident in the sunlight.

What other colors have people described Brickyard as?
I got a parking ticket at school, under color it said "Brown"
I've heard Burgundy, Purple, Coke-colored. Brickyard looks nasty in pics, so I guess that's why no one got it. In person, it's another story.

How anyone could choose the Brickyard from the color chip in the original brochure is beyond me - Not implying that any of you was crazier than me - but I remember taking the brochure out into the bright sun and trying to get some idea what the color would look like on an actual car - The real color is not even close to the brochure. All of those folks who thought I had gone off the deep end are now coming up and saying "what a great color. That's what I want."

Default Compliments

I'm getting compliments on the car and on the color. Girls love this color. After I wash it, I enjoy observing those looks on freeway. And in person, brickyard looks much better than on any pictures.

Pooh2002,

I chose the color on my pre-order based on some of the pics I had seen floating around the net.

I believe Scafremon had caught some shots of a brickyard out in CA and I thought the car looked very classy.

If I hadn't seen those, I probably would have joined the masses and gone with one of the silvers.

I'm glad I didn't do that. Every time I see someone who tells me they have seen another Z (which isn't often around here), they tell me that it was "some silver color".

I love the brickyard, and I have to say that it can appear brown in some light, but I describe it as a metallic burgundy/wine color.

Honestly, I selected Brickyard because I wanted a dark color and a color that was less common than the rest. Brickyard fit the bill because the production estimates (at time I ordered) put it at the bottom of pre-ordered colors. I couldn't be happier or imagine owning another color now that it is in my garage!

As for other names... I still like metallic wine (or possibly metallic merlot, if you want to be more snooty). Couple girls have described it as eggplant, but I think that only applies in low light conditions.

For some more Brickyard photos, check out this thread from my weekend drive...

Finally, vqracer if you see this, drop me an email at mcduck@earthlink.net. I want to find out what I need you to do to host a couple of my pics at full resolution.

I had the same problem, Pooh, I was going for white, stealth mode, when my wife said, the white makes it look like the trunk is open. I didn't think so, but I am somewhat colorblind, so I moved to the Brickyard, showed it to her and she thought it would be OK, so I ordered it from the tiny pic on the website and opted for the frost leather for maximum contrast. Talk about dumb luck! when I saw it just off the transporter, I just about jumped for joy. What a great color, and everyone I meet compliments it. I think I am still the only one in town with the color combination, and people are all over me to ask questions and ooh and aah. I couldn't be happier with my choice.

I picked the color beacause I thought it would be less popular, a little stealthy, and because it just caught my eye from the web site. After I pre-ordered and got the brochure, I was nervous because it seemed so dark.

I described to color to my friends at work as "metallic reddish-brownish-puple". I don't think they were too impressed by the description, but when they saw the car the first words from practically everyone was "What a great color!"

I'm really happy with the choice, but now that I've seen all of the colors, I must say that I would have been happy with just about all of them. I only wish there was a green since that is my favorite color of all, but in the meantime I just love my brickyard.

Yep, I was dead set on chrome silver until Scarfremon posted those pics. From then on it was a tough choice between Brickyard and Blue. I went with Brickyard, but I could have been happy with blue too.

The only thing I don't like about it is that it gets dirty quite easy. Oh well, more excuse to wash it often!! It looks fantastic in the sun, though it is very understated on cloudy days.
