Default How does the Z sound on the freeway?

Hi guys. I know this is a sports car and I shouldn't expect a luxury ride out of it and I am not. However, my last car was a Integra and when I was on the freeway, it was quite noisy. I heard everything from the wind to the small bumps on the road. When I drove my 1998 Toyota Camry on the freeway, I didn't even notice a change in the noise.

So if you used to own an Integra or a car similar and now own a Z, let me know how the noise levels are on the freeway and how they compare. Thanks.

i used to own an integra too. the Z is a little better, but as you said, "I know this is a sports car and I shouldn't expect a luxury ride out of it..."

test drive one, and ask to take it on the freeway.

Yeah, the test drive is next week since I will be out of town this week. The Integra got a little annoying when my gf and I tried to have a real conversation on the freeway and I could barely hear her.

loud. at least my track model anyway. switching from g35c to 350z was a HUGE degrade in sound quality.

I have no trouble having a quiet conversation with my girlfriend while on the freeway at speed.

Pretty Loud. More loud now, I believe due to the tires. Just turn on your high quality, crisp clear sound of the stock radio

I used to have an Integra, I didn't notice the tires as much in the integra...but there was alot more wind noise and highways annoyance that the Z seems to have displaced.

I have a mildy modified GSR (icebox, b-pipe, headers) and it rides quieter than my Z (just has a popcharger). Tires obviously have a huge role on the noise. I have BFG Traction T/As on the GSR and the stock crap on the Z. The tire roar on the Z is only noticable at low speeds but once you get going, it dies down.

The Track model will be a little louder than the other models as there's about 10 lbs less sound insulation material in the car.

I don't hear any car noise.....................

Cause my stereo is usually cranked!

Actually, the road noise isn't that bad imo. Of course I've been driving Z's since 1986 so what do I know.

If anyone is worried about noise all you have to do is add fatmat or dynomat to your car.

Hmm i dunno what you guys are talking about but my Z (stock) is pretty damn quiet on the highway. The stock exhaust in 6th gear is inaudible. I actually used to own an Integra Type R with full exhaust, and now that thing was annoying on the highway, not only from the exhaust, but the fact that at 80mph, it was at 4.5k rpm's. It didnt have any sound deadening either.

tell your girlfriend to keep quiet so you can hear the sweet growl of the Z engine
