Default 35th anniversary

I have a question, why would nissan take away 14 pounds of torque and give 13 extra horsepower to the 35th anniversary. Wouldnt that make it almost the same speed, if not slower? Horsepower sells, torque makes the car go. I mean all the other extra stuff on the 35th edition is cool but what about performance?

You don't need all that power aways as the speed limit is just 70 mph.

The hp mark may be a marketing gimmick, but one dyno of the new engine has already shown a broader torque curve and more torque later in the powerband. The new engine is more designed for those who actually race their cars in auto-crossing and track sessions because the mid-range and top-end is better than the standard engine, which is where we need the power most.

PEAK HP and TQ is a more of a gimmick. Area under the curve is what really matters.

Most cars are rated at bhp, not whp. Your touring isn't 287 hp to the wheels. Whats your point?

Traffic does about 80 in the 65 mph zones when volume permits. Here in SoCal the speed limit is more of a suggestion. Out where it's 75 traffic does 80-85 mph and you don't start drawing looks until 90 mph. I'll take it to 100 between packs of cars and not really be worried (with a V1 detector).

From the early test results the car is no faster in a straight line, but the extra revs is useful on the track, so that you might avoid a shift here and there and stay on power.

i bought a 35th anniversary edition because it was the best looking z on the lot....I love it and am very happy. Why buy aftermarket wheels when the stock wheels look **** hot! This is a bad *** car and I am waiting to hit 1200 miles so I can "open her up"....I get a lot of looks in this car because it is unique....300hp vs 287....what's the difference anyway?...it's all about how you drive it, right?

agree. Anniversary stock wheels are so hot i want them on my track, but they cost SO much from the dealer.

In terms of performance its definitely down to the driver.

The Anni wheels are awesome, but they gotta weigh a ton. I'll take my 18.6 lb Rays Wheels thank you.

Now I was told "by dealer so this is a disclaimer* that the hp difference and torque loss was becauce they used a different exhaust on the track and ani editions *but then again the dealer doesnt usually know *****
