The factory shift knob
If you're talking about an MT, you'll want to clamp down the shifter rod (underneath the shift boot) before twisting off the ****. If you have an '04 or newer 350Z, supposedly the **** is a lot easier to remove than with the '03's (mine was on TIGHT
).
Mine had red loktite (!!!), and it was nearly impossible to get off. So I got my brother to do it. He broke the shifter at the anti-noise joint, drilled a hole in it, mounted it in a lathe, and broke the **** loose using a pliers grabbing onto a belt wrapped around a towel. (It's a home-made strap-wrench I think.) Then he re-threaded it to get rid of the extra loktite.
