Default Taking car in for tranny service...

I have been noticing this slight grind recently when shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear. Its not a grind that someone of you have described where the tranny makes a loud noise or feels like the tranny is gonna explode....it sounds normal, but i feel the grind through the shifter. This also seems to happen when I go from 4th to 5th gear. Also, when I "baby" the car, it seems to shift fine in 3rd...but when accelerating moderatly, it grinds! Anyhow, I called my dealer and they said to bring it in so they can take apart my transmission and diagnose it. I specified that I do not want a refurbished tranny if it needs to be replaced and the service man said "oh no...this is gonna be a brand new unit from Nissan." So, i hope all goes well....anyone had their tranny replaced that have seen a major difference? Is there really a revised version of tranny's or just same units and a minority of us ended up with duds?

I have a 2004 Enthusiast 6spd... I dont know the build date, how do I find it? Yeah, i hope i have a "real" 2004 car and not a overproduced 2003 model.
