Default Sport Compact offering a sponsorship?

I got a call today from i think it was Sport Compact magazine or something to that sort. They said they looked over this application i had sent them, (awhile ago through a link i found on my350z.com, they were sponsors). They basically said they will open a 12,000 bank account, and pay half of all my mods. All i have to do is attend 4events this year, sticker up, and the part that worries me, give them $80 for the opening fee's, contract, and all that other stuff.... Iam curious if anyone has gotten this before, is it a scam? Or is this the real thing?

Its a scam. In the latest issue someone wrote in with details of their car and how they were looking for a sponsorship and the editors replied that they don't sponsor people. Check out the latest issues letters, it was from a guy with an escort, I think. (Although, the way I read it, he wasn't asking them to sponsor him, but how to get sponsored, I think)

lol....run away man...for $80 you know what you get? a cancelled check for $80.00

its not Sport Compact Car Magazine

12,000 bank account: LOLOLOLOLOLOL - where do I sign?

you were wise to be cautious.....having been in this biz for 10+ years, I can tell you this - no legit sponsorship has application fees

Lol ya thats what i thought, when i applied for the sponsorship awhile ago. I was like i bet they will just take my $$ and never do anything, so when it asked for my Credit Card #s, i just entered fake ones . Then when she called me today, she waited till the very end to tell me that my credit card didnt go through and they need a working one to charge the opening $80 fee. I was like wait what? way to ruin it, why do you need $80? "Well sir, we need to open the account, get all the contracts and paperwork done." Iam just thinking... b1tch when does couple pieces of paper cost $80?!
So then i had to come on here, cause this just seems to good to be true. Hell ya z1-performance, 12grand account, sign me up!!! haha

What does Z1 (either of the Z-1 companies wouldn't get involved, I'm sure) have to do with this?

Yeah, I signed up for a sponsorship years ago...all I got was a nice letter welcoming me to the club. <G> That and a canceled check. Learned my lesson and I hope you didn't send them any money!

Man some people don't know business. $80 processing fee... lets see

Paper
ink
envelopes
power to use needed eletronics
postage (unless you want it COD)
phone fees so you can call them and b!tch
Wage for processor
wage for mail boy

Then you got the equipment portion of the Processing fee.
Computer use and wear
phone use and wear
office equipment use and wear
needed supplies.

Too boot they are a third party agency to get you your free crap. If you don't want the $80 fee figure this thing out your self and nothing to pay. But see how much Free stuff you get then.

So when you add it up the greater majority of the $80 is used. Most companies make little or no proffit on processing fees. I use to think like you but then I started to do venture capital deals for diffrent customer service companies and I saw how it stacked up. I just resently installed a computer drop that was $4k as the processing and work order. They had to pay for my plane ticket, hotel, food, transpertation, equipment, and supplies. That was the account setup fee for a simple $15 worth of Cat5 cable and a $2 jack. If you got what they need and you got the experience you can ask what you want. if you don't like it do it your self.

I have a couple of friends who are well sponsored for there $80 processing fee. And they are accualy using the product, not just trying to scam free crap. Free tires/mounting/ Balancing, Synthetic oil/filter, suspention and exhaust; IMHO are well worth $80.

I just got picked up with a Tire company and Wheel company for my $80 and more to come. They are evaluating my application for a HIN Sponsorship in Hawaii.

So this is just my .02 from first hand experience.

I told them to deposit only $11020.00 because they needed my 80.00 for processing fees. I never heard back from them?
