Just follow the above posts... mine is usually fine after five minutes of driving on "circulate". Also, open up both of your windows to let most of the hot air out. In addition, you can also invest in a sunshade.

Wierd, I thought the air conditioner worked too well.

The first Time I got my Z and took it home and gave my friend a drive in it, I put the A/C on auto and the fan came on and my friend though a plane jet was flying above us. It turned out it was the A/C fan.

I'm always freezing in my car when I have the A/C on. It's kinda scary, I thought it was so powerful that it might have tooken too much horsepower to work it, so I ususally have it off.

LMAO, I didn't know it did that. Just went out to the garage to try it, cool. To bad it doesn't roll them up when you press and hold the lock button.

Most of you that talk about setting the A/C to recirculate don't mention what year you have. Do the Z's prior to 2005 not have Automatic A/C? My A/C automagically puts it on recirc for me when it's really hot.

Also living in Central Florida I wish the A/C worked a little faster and better. It's good but on those 98 degree days it sure would be nice if it was a little better. I'm thinking of replacing the A/C refrigerant with that stuff that is supposed to be 50% faster cooling. I can't find a link but just go into any Autozone or Advance Auto Parts (why couldn't they just name it "Advanced" like everyon pronounces it?) and ask some one.

I think this might be it: http://www.autofrost.com/

Oh, I forgot to say if you don't have your windows tinted get them tinted NOW! Make sure you get the good tint, something that has some heat shield to it too. Get as dark as you are comfortable with and the tint shop will do. You shouldn't pay more than $120. I paid $100 and got 13% Sungard metal tint. A buddy of mine got 5% on his front windows and 2% on his back windows (PT Cruiser). If you are in the Orlando area go to Custom Window Shade Tinting it's just one guy but he's been doing it for years and he's really good. He'll do whatever you want, for a price.

Yes it may automatically put it on recirc but you can turn that off by pushing the button ...

Also you can roll your windows up and down by inserting the key in the door then turn and hold it all the way to the left or right. Nice trick if you accidentally get out with the windows down...

If you also press the recirc. button more then 1.5 seconds, it will set it to automatic, which means when you turn on the A/C, it will automatically switch to recirculate, and when you turn off the A/C, it will switch to circulate automatically.

PS: thanks for the heads up on holding down the unlick, very useful.

I have expirience with this... my 03 maxima has the same problem (i dont have a z yet ). I found out that if your on a highway or moving for that fact, and driving in lower gears, and have only the center AC vents on, the car cools much faster. The side vents are close to the windows and the shell of the car which is really hot so cooling from the middle outwards was much more effective. Maxima is smoke w/ black interior and its been hawt in NJ for the past few days. Also, it helps to have the windows down and AC on for the first few minutes while the condensor and radiator cool off.

Mine seems to work really well. Sometimes in takes a little longer or never goes out of recirculate when the temp is above 95 but it's nice and cool inside.

recirculate is the fastest way to get it cold. Automatic mode tho is usually set to outside air unless you set it really much colder than outside air.

Yeah, the AC isn't the coldest but it's cool enough for me.

Default Ac

Centeral NC and hot here. I sent the ac to 74 and auto. It stays in high fan recirculate for 20 minutes or so. With the auto system I did not think setting it lower would make it cool any faster. I have had GM and Jaguars that would freeze me out and even my Volvo xc90 beats my z. Thought it was normal.
It's got to be 85 before I use the ac because I don't shift until I hear the engine or exhaust.

I think the perspective on how well the AC works might be affective by what else you drive or what you drove last before getting the Z. My GM cars cool much better than the Z, and they are all black with black interiors. Even though the Z cools down eventually, the fan has to run on high for much longer than my other cars.

I find myself messing with mine a lot because I'll get cold. My car sits in the sun all day while I'm at work, but by a few miles down the road I'm comfortable. And that's even with the circa 100 degree days that we've had recently.
