A simple TPS question. Why don't I have it?

Its hard to say... I will have to check your vin again...
The shoulder belt guard is on all 04 and ups.. The knee pads just started being introduced around the .5 build date...
rite around the 06/04 mark they started doing the 07/04's... so yours could be a .5... Some 06/04's will have .5 parts and some wont.. depends on the exact date of the build...

I originally found the official distinction between the two on the nissan-tech.com site. You can tell in the VIN numbers:
2004 Nissan 350Z Coupe/Roadster (Coupe VINs up to D*4T160000,E*4T060000) (Roadster VINs from D*4T102001 to D*4T110000 & from A*4T002001 to A*4T010000)
2004.5 Nissan 350Z Coupe/Roadster (Coupe VINs from D*4T160001, E*4T060001) ( Roadster VINs from D*4T110001, A*4T010001)

Some 04.5 parts were on vehicles with build dates as early as 08/03 and even earlier.
In the NISSAN Parts System,
07/04 is the date when all vehicles started using those parts...
Atleast this is what our parts system says which is what I am going by...
The best thing to do to be sure you have X or Y part is to check it with a VIN Number.

I'm a little confused myself. I bought the car used about 2 months ago and it has the heated seats, so didn't those only come on the Touring?
It is a 5AT so maybe that has something to do with it?
