Question Need Help - Am i better off getting a Z??

I am still confused on which car to get. I am going be tranfering to a University and its about a 30-45 min drive. I think it will eat alot of gas.

My choices are: Rsx Type-s , 03-05 V6 accord or 350Z. I am really confused right now because i dont want to regret it later on. I know that all of these cars take alot of gas.

-(MT) With the Type S i will be putting intake and exhuast and maybe a kit on + GAS - Prem. Gas
-(AT) With the Accord leave it stock, maybe just a body kit + GAS - regular Gas
-(AT) with the 350z I will be leaving it stock and will worry about only GAS - Prem. Gas

Am i better off going with the Z?

Honestly Bro, in that line-up, I would get the Z. I think those cars are in three different classes. None of those other cars are exciting. The Accord will eat as much gas as the Z plus it is soooooooooooooo boooooooooooooooring. The RSX isn't a bad choice but it is an econobox trying to be a sports car. If you truly want just a daily driver with great gas mileage, no flaming please, I would get a Mazda 3. It is the most car for the money out there. It is real fun to drive, a great price, lots of options not available on any other car in its class (leather, nav). A fully loaded 3 will cost around $20K brand new off the showroom floor and it is just as fast and has just as much aftermarket available as the RSX. What school are you going to BTW?

If you do get a Z for daily driving like that, get a bra. Either clear or black. I have had my Z 2 weeks and have been saved many times from rock chips by having my bra

If you worry about gaz don't get any of those cars. Go get yourself a honda civic. or something of that size.
The RSX-S, and the 350z are not gaz friendly. They are civilized race cars, they are cars ment to be driven and enjoyed while driven.

From what you have posted, you seem to be selecting the cars for the wrong reasons. Do not get the Z

I was looking at the RSX S Type before I bought the Z. The dealer thought the car was worth $6k over invoice which put it at the same cost as the Z. As far as gas mileage is concerned, I baby it most of the time in the city and get 25 city/27 hwy.

I understand the fact that i want a sports car and i have to pay for the price of gas. I been driving around my moms car for about 4 months now and i am used to how much gas it takes.

If i can get a really good deal on one i will go for it. I found one 03 blue enthu AT, has 12k miles with 7yr/100k warranty and hes asking 24,900 (Private Party). I think its a little too much. I checked the value on it for private and its around 21k and a trade-in of 18k.

Do your homework when it comes to interest rates. I thought about buying a used 2003 Z. Average price for a 2003 BASE around here was $24k. I ended up buying a new 2005 Enthusiast with ALL the options available for less per month than I would have got buying used (interest rates/term vary for new/used). You've got to remember that the Z holds its value better than almost any other car out there.

If your headed back to school, I would not get a nice sports car due to the fact that you have idiots on campus that will either vandalize or tend to steal $hit in your car. The gas issue will keep increasing and fellow Z members have put at between $30.00-45.00 for a full tank. You ned to factor in insurance, maintenance, and replacing the tires every 12,000-15,000 miles. If you are working full-time and going to school part-time then its worth to get; however, if you are a full-time student and part-time working its not worth it. I would get a Acura RSX type s, or a Civic si, or even the Honda accord V6. It's nice to have a Z but if your on campus you need to find a parking space and worry about it time to time. It's just a word of advice only, but good luck in you decisions, I've learned from experience.

I dont believe in cars holding its value. All cars depreciate. I talked to the guy who has the 03 AT enthu. and said that he had his tires changed out from the dealer. The car does have the tire feathering issue.

Asking 24k with 7yr/100k warranty? Can i still get a better deal?

I live in Houston as well and I drive everyday from Kemah to the Galleria in my Z. I put about 75-80 miles a day on it. I still get 21.6 mpg with some n/a mods done to it. The thing is, if you're worrying about pay for the gas prices, you shouldn't be driving a Z. It's a nice sports car and you get what you pay for. You should possibly think about a civic or prius at that. As for using it to go to school, that's a totally different story. Take it from an UH Alumni, those people there are harsh! I've had my old car broken into twice and it wasn't even parked far. Good luck in whatever you decide to get!

I have a sister-in-law starting next semester there too. No offense to the school but don't park anything nice out there. Borrow your mom's camry or get a 91 Acccord for near $1500 and beat the hell out of it. I think anyone that wants a Z as badly as you should get one. I don't like that private party deal you are working on. You may want to find out if the extended warranty will even transfer to you. Also, you know as well as I do that he is asking too much for that car. You seem to be getting impatient. I just stopped looking altogether for my Z. I decided to have a patio, cover, outdoor kitchen, and pond put in my backyard. I'll spend $10K out there and by December I will be ready to buy my car and it will probably be an 05 the dealer is trying to get rid of. Just relax....the Z will find you. I know of a 03 with 36K miles with the same 7year/100K warranty. It is 6mt, black, touring, and looks pretty good. They want $25K at Tom Peacock Nissan. It needs some interior pieces fixed but dealer has agreed to fix them. I was going to buy it but I am holding off for now. If you want the guy's name/number, let me know.

Maybe i will wait with you and we can both go together to get our Z's haha. Yeah i want a Z bad but i also want a beater to take to UH and save gas. I am thinking about giving up also but everytime i see the Z i go crazyyy!!!!

Just yesterday i saw a Yellow Z when i was in the car with my mom and i told her to catch up to it...haha...but yeah the more longer i wait the more money can be saved.... i really dont want a 03 unless if i find the best deal possible.

BTW i think you can get a better deal on the 03 touring 6MT. They are asking alot for a 03 with 36k miles and its manual.

Gas is not that bad in a Z. The only thing I would worry about is space if you ever have to take very much stuff anywhere. Other than that, the Z is the most fun and probably pretty comparable on gas to the rest.

I don't know. I think $25K from the dealer is better than $24K from an individual. Dealerships put it through checks that an individual won't. Anyway, I hate to go new and lose so much as soon as I drive it away but I plan to keep this one for a while so I think I'll go 05. If the lot has a few 05s when I go in December, I may wait til January just to milk them a little more.

When does the 06 come out? I heard that they were suppose to be coming out in Aug. Let me know your plans and how everything works out for you.

+1

I had two different cars in college and both were sh!tboxes...and both got broken into. And my gf's car got broken into and vadalized as well.

I'd be worried to have a Z at school. Get a loyal Honda/Acura and when you graduate, get a real car.
