Default My baby is BROKEN

Give me your opinions.....

I was driving home last night about 12:30 am 95 south about to get onto 695 to towson when this happened. I merged over to the off ramp and i see this thing in the road on the white lines that looked like it was part of the road. at the last second i see the dimensions of it and see it is not part of the road so i brace myself because I knew I was going to run over it. When I hit it it threw the car into the ari for a brief second, then i heard a bang the car was shaking and it wouldn't move. So then I pulled over to the side of the road and lost my mind I got out screaming mother fucl<ing everything. Then more people were pulling over with flat tires and a camery with the engine dropped out of it. About seven people hit the samer thing. I called my friends to pick me up and the cops came like ten of them to hand out police reports. What we all hit was a strap and bracket about the size of a cinder block off of the back of a flatbed semi. Well I had it towed to the dealer I got a glance up under neath of it and saw the drive shaft broken, exhaust ripped off of it and the floor under the driver seat pushed up into the car. I don't know what they are going to do. who knows what else is messed up. Now my car is junked up I hope more stuff is broken and they just total it, it will never be the same. thats why i bought the car because my last car an 02 gti i wrecked 3 years ago christmas eve had a hairline crack in the frame the body shop didn't notice. then over time after it was fixed it spread open and the car was done. Then now my insurance rates are going to go up and who knows what else. REDICULOUS CHRIST can't anything just be alright.

I'm terribly sorry for what happened. Are you OK though? Sounds total to me, but like you said, it will never be the same even if gets fixed.

I hope everything works out in the end man.

Jesus man, that SUCKS!!!! Keep us posted on what happens with this. The drive shaft is replaceable, as is the exhaust, it's the floor-pan damage that would concern me. And a hit like that had to have really given the frame a whack. So sorry to hear about that man.

wow... that really sucks man, i know i would of got out of the car and been just as mad as you. i have a question about the story, i'm not trying to place any blame i am just interested in how fast you were going, because that seems like a lot of damage and i'm curious to how much abuse the z actually sucks.

i'm with man, i hope they write it off as totalled and you can get a new vechicle, you're right, it will never be the same...

good luck bro.

i have been through 3 car wrecks 1 total, so just keep calling your insurance and whatnot, everything will work out in the end for you...if insurance wants to pay off your car payments thats good... but do you know you can buy the car back from them totalled and part out the car if ur interested

Depending on how the insurance company sees it.....

In the state of maryland (So state farm tells me) If it's a comprehensive claim and thats what this would be. and you're not at fault (chances are this also falls under that) They will NOT beable to raise your rates.

Yeah the camery had its engine fall out

Allstate is a bunch of idiots they are making it a collission claim and saying im at fault. Even though seven other people hit the same thing i guess we all were supposed to leap over it because im speed racer. I asked the insurance agent then if that was the case could i drive around throwing rocks at other people while I drive and say it is their fault because they got in my line of sight. Needless to say i got hung up on.

I hope the car is totaled because I do not want it back.

The sad thing is that it was the first car in a long time that i really enjoyed driving and I only had it for 4 months before something dumb happened.

Then my insurance agent is asking me stupid questions. She was saying what were you doing out so late anyway, were you coming from a club or bar. I was like first of all it isn't your business but if you have to know i had just finished deep dickin my girl, second clubs and bars don't close till two chances are I will stay till the end. She lost her mind and got all Irate with me. I then said are you trying to hint that i may have been drinking. She got soo defensive it was funny. I wanted to choke her so bad, then what threw her for a loop was when i told her she doesn't know me, I don't want her to, and her job is to just process work for me and collect her commission when my policy renews. Ah well sorry for ranting on but im just a little taken by all of this. I was anxious because i was coming from the german car scene to the japanese side and learning all this new stuff was great.

Ill stop, I will get pice this week and post them and when i find out for sure I will kep ya posted.

Thanks for the input

First, I must say that I don't exactly agree with your inter-personal tactics with the insurance folks, despite the information they were giving or requesting or any insinuations they might have made.

That said, what a bunch of retards. I've NEVER heard of hitting road-debris being filed as a collision claim. It's more "act of God" than anything else and should be covered under comprehensive. Additionally, unless you were tested for alcohol by a LEO, you could have been falling-down drunk and it CAN'T affect your claim because there is no basis of proof. I'd take your experience with them up their management chain if I were in your shoes.

Similar thing happended to me on my way to Las Vegas. Drive Shaft fell off a truck, while moving at 60 mph. My friend (driving my car at the time), tried to avoid but end up doing 270 turn after hitting side divider. Highway Patrol report indicated that accident was caused by Drive Shaft from the truck, and that made rest of insurance claim eaiser. Insurance paid off rest of loan and i got few thousand for after market parts and 2 month of PT.

If your insurance company won't sue the owner of the truck, then I'll get a lawyer to handle it.

Owned it less than a year, 2004, SS touring with orange leather seat... (can't find that combo anywhere).

Hitting road debris is definitely a comprehensive claim, not collision. I would definitely argue about that, unless your policy clearly states that damage caused by debris hit while driving is considered collision. And the claim representative you dealt with, asking you details such as what were you doing at that time, where were you going/coming from: totally none of her business and unprofessional. I like the way to replied to her, though. I'm sure that really shut her fat *** right up...

NOT TRUE. I called up my old insurance company up becuase everyone elses rates were cheaper I asked them WTF was up. They told me it's becuase I have a verbal violation, at some point they have on record that I told them I had a violation of some sort. there for they ranked me as a "not clean" driver. I simply asked them if my driving recorded show any points or tickets they said no, I told them to refund me the extra money I've been paying in the past and they did no questions asked. However if I didnt catch onto it..............

bastards...

And yes I would fight this ticket I would have a Police Officer write you a statment that you were NOT AT FAULT. and that should be enough for the insruance company to not want to waste more time/money on by passing the claim. Becuase you WILL drag them to court and you will win. unless as stated before if its writen in the policy that hitting stuff on the road is an at fault thing.....
