Default Hater Stories

Well, recently it seems as though there have been a lot of threads/posts that are about arrogant and clueless men and women who have no recognition of the Z and the Z`s history.

So, I thought it would be fun to put all these hater stories into one thread for everyone to read/laugh at.

I have one myself:
I went out the other night to dinner and when we pulled up to the restaurant this guy comes up to me and my friend [he drives a Z as well] and says to us "Man, is that the new G35?" We tell him no and that it`s a 350Z. He starts giggling like a girl and goes "****, the G35 is WAYYY faster than your guys' Nissan. But since it`s so much cheaper I can see why you bought it."

Needless to say we just rolled our eyes and went inside =P

Haters.

Pulled into a parking lot behind a guy in a blue Lotus Elise not very long ago. I was real impressed because it was the first time I seen one in person. I appreciate just about any sports car so I waited till this 6 ft guy pryed himself out so I could say to him "hey, nice car". He replied in a real snobby sort of a tone, "yeah, I'll race you sometime" and just gives me a weird look. I said "you would probably win" and he just turns and walked away. But what I find real annoying is when ever I take the time to compliment someones nice sports car (or whatever, can be a car much less expensive then a Z) they just usually just smile and reply with a thanks never once even noticing or complimenting my 350z in return. It's like I'm driving a mini van or something. I've come to the conclusion that the only people who appreciate the Z Car (any generation) are the ones who own them. To the rest of the world they get no respect, never did, even a laughing stock to many. I just was never able to figure out why it's got this sort of reputation. And I've been driving Z's for a very long time.
Edit: Maybe it's just the area I live in, I dunno

I get so many compliments in my Z, a lot more than I did in my WRX, some people are just **** heads and need to be kicked in the face, and a lot of theose people drive really expensive cars...... I think...

there are some snobbish haters, without a doubt. But theres something sublime about looking up from your radio at a stoplight and seeing pairs of eyes staring at you from every lane. Love those unspoken props.

Stevez33,

Dont let the idiots discourage you. We need more people like you on the road. I have a 350 and an Evo 8, and I run into idiots in both cars, so it is not specific to the Z. Keep doing what you are doing.

You guys don't know what hating is......I drive an Evo, I have yet to have someone, um, let me clarify, over the age of 16 tell me nice car. Hence, my starting my next open-track project, a 2003 Z.

However, I love to abuse the Lotus owners at track events in the Evos, nothing like telling them I have four doors, and cushy seats in mine. Granted, they don't know what has been done to the car, to make it out-corner a Lotus, stock that is.

+1 I hear ya on that....I live in Southern NJ ...and a lot of the people here remind you of zombies from "Dawn of the Dead"......They drive around in their BMW's, Saabs, Mini-vans and seriously lame and boring azz American Cars and literally act as though the Z is just "another" car.....Maybe I should've gotten Ultra Yellow....LOL

Actually, I have gotten compliments from other Nissan owners (Altimas, etc) and other ppl with Sportcars....

It's funny though..that there is NO comraderie amongst Z owners...I'm like WTF?? I'll drive along the side of another Z or pass one in the opposite direction and NO reaction?? again,,,,WTF. Those damn Jeep Wranger ****'s must wear secret decoder rings and belong to a special society, cuz they ALWAYS wave at and acknowledge each other...I see it ALL the time!

Well this doesn`t really qualify as hating, it`s actually the opposite. I went to the post office today, parked in a random spot in the lot where there were NO cars around.
When I came back there was a porsche carrera on my right and a new 5 series BMW on my left.

That made me feel good, because there were still a million closer spots available to park in.

My other vehicle is a 97 Jeep Wrangler. I'm not all into off-roading...it's just my "beater" more or less. But...you are right, Wrangler folks are all into the "Jeep Wave"...it's the first thing they tell you when you get one...and after owning this one for over 2 years, I'd say about 80% of the ones you meet on the road will wave in some fashion.

As for my new Z, well, it certainly seems to attract a lot of attention on the road!

Yeah, I live not too far from you (West Deptfrod/Woodbury). I aways flash other Z's, all Z's. There was a time around here when you would always get a wave or flash back. Not anymore though I'll still keep doing it

I never get waves anymore either. I pretty much stopped doing it. I pulled up to a guy in a heavily modded Super black Z in my Super black (stock) Z. This car looked GREAT, Nismo exterior mods, dropped, big wheels and tires, exhaust. I rolled down the window, said " Sick car man" And then he just took off??? Didn't even say anything. I'm done with that sh#t
I parked next to guy in an STi...modded. When I came out of the store back to my Z, he was also walking back. As we were getting in to our cars, I Say "nice car". He doesn't even reply and then just does a burn out.
I really need to start the mods so I can just be a D@%K too. If you can't beat em, join em.
On a side note, I was at a light and I was making a left with this woman in an SUV behind me. I was waiting for cars to pass so I could make my left and she's honking at me bad. I see her in my rearview waving and flailing her hands. I become angry. There is a ton of gravel and rocks on the road due to construction. When the cars pass, I just spin em up spewing rocks and gravel all over the front of her 60k Landcruiser. That felt good. Now she can join me as a proud owner of ROCK CHIPS.
Sorry if I hijacked. Had to vent.

I know I don't have a Z, but when I get compliments on my car, normally I just down play the car like "Yeah, its not bad, theres still some things I need to clean up." I don't like how whenever you give someone a compliment they're like "Yeah I know, its amazing isn't it? I just got this and this and this and its so fast and I can smoke anybody, I just raced a ferrari and kicked his monkey ***!" I am very humble when it comes to compliments. I show my appreciation, but I also don't just smile and nod, I atleast speak a few words regarding the topic. Normally, I do not like advertising my ride (aka, going to shows, having a hundred people staring at my car or checking it out). I used to be all about having people check it out, the more the better. I don't like the attention anymore however, its always negative attention or trouble makers.

I've had a pack of angered welfarians chase me down one-way streets in montreal trying to beat me up, I can tell you right now that me insulting them wasn't the only thing that ticked them off

In the South, most of my experiences have been positive (as far as remarks, anyway), and the few negative experiences haven't been due to what is really "hating," i.e., the attitude of "I own a crappy car myself and because of my extreme jealousy of your car I need to insult your car to rationalize how great my hoopty is."

Much the opposite; most remarks that some might perceive as insulting or offensive (the apparently common "Oh, the Infiniti is a MUCH better car," remark) are simply stupid or ignorant rather than "hating."

I have a pretty good comeback for those folks, however, since I can truthfully tell them that I USED to own a loaded G35 6MT coupe, and after a year, I traded it for a Z roadster which I not only like much better, but which also cost more $ than the G. Any look of astonishment after I inform them of the above I simply take as the open-mouthed gape of idiocy ("Car dumbass say what?").

The bottom line is if we enjoy our Zs, why do we care what others think?
