Just curious. I know off the top of my head of a 240 back in the day and more recently a 300. Now there's the 350. Is it each time the model is reintroduced and what do they signify?

240Z = 2.4L engine
260Z = 2.6L engine
280Z = 2.8L engine
300Z = 3.0L engine
350Z = 3.5L engine

See a pattern developing?

Also see Model/Series number:

240,260,280Z = 2.4L, 2.6L, 2.8L engine = S30
280ZX = 2.8L engine = S130
300ZX = 3.0L engine = Z31 & Z32
350Z = 3.5L engine = Z33
Also known as chassis designation.

Er, Mr. RacerZ , why don't you check what you link to before you launch a flame. www.nissan.com has nothing to do with Nissan. And Scotty is correct, at the page you were no doubt thinking of, www.nissanusa.com, there is nothing about why the Z is numbered as it is.

Personally, I find questions like what Scotty posed far more interesting than "what color should I get, black or yellow?" or "All I'm doing is trying to shift through all the gears while I'm in redline, why does my transmission keep breaking? Why won't the dealer give me another free one when I yell at him?" Excessive amount of sarcasm here in response to what I thought was a reasonable question from a new enthusiast.

agreed 100% with BPR.

sometimes people ask generic questions and they're automatically flamed to the "search function" ... there might be new users with new experiences that might want to to contribute to the question / topic!

Why yes I do:

400Z = 4.0L engine
450Z = 4.5L engine
525Z = 5.35L? engine
600Z = 6.0L engine with tt's hopefully

If you like information on the Z Car... use this site.
www.zcca.org
Althought the site is not complete yet there is plenty of GREAT information.

Z Car Club Association - the International Z Car club is made up of local Z Clubs throughout North America.

Use the link to Z CARS you'll find information on the evolution of the Z car plus links to information on Mr. K, the original Datsun company and the SPECS for all of the different models of Z's.
