Default This is funny!!!!!!!!

I love it how all the younger people say they are XX years of age and then all go on to say "but I bought it on my own". All the older people say I'm YY, but I'm "so young at heart", or something like that. Then there are the people who disclose their incomes so we can see that they do in fact make enough $$$ to afford their Z. This is funny.

The original question was just about age, it didn't ask for your age, then ask for a justification of your Z ownership based on your age. This car has an appeal that is ageless, and will span a huge income, career, and educational range. It's just that kind of car.

BTW......I'm 39.

If you started making $44k at 18, you obviously did not go to college. Now that you are making $70k at the age of 22, that's great.....until you get married, want a house, kids, etc. That $70k won't let you afford a Z at that point. I'm not trying to be mean or anything in saying this so please don't take it that way. Just realize that unless you are an heir to a family business, or are a lucky and talented entrepreneur, your income is going to top off very soon without higher education, and as you "settle down", you will have to get accustomed to a more mediocre lifestyle. At 22, go back to school and secure a good future for the long haul. I didn't earn a penny in real income until age 27 due to school. Then I earned $32,000 in my first year in the work force. After that I had to pay back some educational loans, etc. Wasn't debt free until 33 at which point I was driving a 7 year old Honda Prelude. Now at at 39, I make $400k a year. Not bragging, (see my previous post about income disclosure) but just want to show the value of hard work and education, and that a little bit of delay can bring a lot of gratification.

Funny you should ask. There are many cars I could have bought, but as you find yourself in a position to buy many things, what becomes important is value. I looked at an M3 convertible, but to me it just wasn't worth $24,000 more than my Z roadster. I could have bought a 911 turbo, but to do so I would have needed a car loan, and I just didn't want to start taking on debt when I could buy my Z in cash and still have a good amount of money to comfortably spend on modding my car. My previous car was an Audi S4 into which I dumped another $40,000. I've put $20,000 already into my Z,without having to blink. I could push my lifestyle to the limits of my income, but for me that would create too much stress again. I'm not a penny pincher, but with a little moderation in my life choices, I can still have plenty of fun as well as having a comfortable reserve of cash. Of course, we have a family and do own other cars as well. Again, keeping in moderation, we bought all cars in cash and stayed out of debt.

No doubt man, I am still in school finishing up my BS in MIS....after that, I am planning to go after my Masters.

I busted my *** ever since I was legally able to work (15) and held down a full time job ever since then. I landed a IT internship at the age of 16 and things started rolling after I got some expierence.

What do you do for a living to earn 400k a year? I can only envy you

Speedracer--- DuPont was obviously joking! A lot of these guys are. You are completely right about everything... you ain't gonna be buyin a Z with an income like that--- they act like their incomes are under the table or tax free or whatnot.

I am 20, an electrical engineering student at the Univ. of Washington, and my father bought me the Z as his way of making it up when I got denied admission to MIT and Johns Hopkins... I NEVER EVER brag about it to anyone, and I wish to get a steady income out of college and show my family that I can indeed work hard and earn the same kinda money--- if not more. And btw congrats on your hard work to get that kind of income... our neighbor works at Microsoft and makes a similar salary in a managerial position. He has an 2005 M3 convertible and an 02 X5, which he is getting rid of to buy a newer one. The bastard

And as a new poster to this forum, I also agree that creating a thread like this will ultimately make a lot of people tweak the numbers a bit... causing others to feel bad.

In his profile it says Anesthesiologist--- and he's completely right, I truly believe that delay can bring a lot of gratification.

Yeah, you ask a question like that and it opens up a big fat can of worms.
