Qbrozen....I think you have your answer....a dealership that can not do an alignment and needs to send the car out is not going to want to risk messing up your rims. I'd try finding another dealer - 2 days for an alignment is nuts!

Glad you are getting new tires. I honestly don't think they are that bad - by far not the best, but not that bad...they do wear out really quickly, but that is because they are so soft, which helps them grip so well. People losing it in the rain makes me wonder how long they are running on these tires....I could only get around 20KM out of mine, and yes wet traction was not the best towards the end of the life of the tire. I did move to Toyo t1s for longer tire life, equal or better grip and hopefully better wet traction at a better price. Only issue with the Bridgestones is don't drive them below the tread wear makers - and given they are so soft, don't drive them in the cold - they simply don't grip in the cold...

wow wow.....did anyone check and see if the tires are directional? meaning they only can turn foward, inturn not allowing them to be swapped side to side? I had a set of bridgestone s03 on my audi and they had to spin in one direction, there was an arrow on the tire, showing the direction the tire must turn while driving foward!

yes.. that is why we remove them from the wheel and re-mount and ballance them... More expensive and more timely to do then just removing the rim and swapping them...

If you do that, then the inside of the tire is still on the inside...

when you remove the tire and flip it, the inside of the tire is then on the outside...

This does NOT work with BFG KD's since they are directional and symmetrical

Here is an image of my old LMGT4's... May they rest in pieces (UPS is to blame for that)...

The LEFT side of the tread pattern was originally on the INSIDE of the wheels. I removed the tires, Put them on the other way around so the INSIDE was then on the OUTSIDE. The Left Wheel is then put on the Right Side and vice-versa... The Outside of the tire doesnt make as much contact with the road (unless hard cornering) as the Inside so you can get longer life out of the tires.

I am about to do this with my current tires... I guess I will post a step by step since there is alot of confusion...

Here is the pic... the LEFT is now the OUT SIDE and the Right side is now the INSIDE...

Here is a picture on the car... YOu can see the OUT SIDE is more worn and the INSIDE looks new... Its because I flipped them *(re mounted and ballanced so the out is now in)*

I forgot to say put the rim with the tire that has been remounted on the Oposite side of the car...

If you really really want to put the same rim on the same side... You have to put the tire from the Right side onto the Left Side rim.

But the way they do it at the shop is Flip it onto the same rim and put that rim on the oposite side it was originally on so the tire stays directional...

They are worn on the inside because you dont corner hard enough.

When I get my tires "rotated" next week I will take specific images of exactly what I am doing so anyone who does not understand CAN understand...

It is not a basic "rotation" that your local Jiffy Lube can do... a shop that can mount and ballance tires has to do it... And most tire shops wont sugest it because they want to sell you a new set of tires....

What is being spoken of above is NOT any of these methods...

Why does it not work of BFG... i think if you remove the tires from the rims and thee put them on the different rim it all should be good => f.ex the left tire (inside) will be the right tire (outside)...

How often should we do this? I have like 5.5k miles on my tires?

Its only the BFG KD's (the DRY tire not the KDW's that are talked about more here..) they are Symmetrical... You purchase them as a Left tire and Right tire... This method we are talking about does not work for this because the inside can only be on the inside (they state)...

There arent that many tires that are symmetrical but some of them are...

I just decided I am going to sketch up something for those who do not understand this concept.. It isnt something that is common, and not too many people think of it...

A symmetrical tire can be used on either side of the automobile because it is symmetrical- tread pattern same outer side and inner side. Stock Z tires are symmetrical and directional.

Directional - designed to rotate in primarily in one direction. Can be swapped by flipping on wheel. Stock Z tires are directional and symmetrical..

Asymmetrical - designed with a front or outside only installation. Can be rotated left with right by moving wheel and tire together if it is also not directional.

Asymmetrical and Directional. Designed with both features and should not be rotated side to side. Requires unique left and right side tires.

The side wall will specificy how it should be mounted. Thus the arrows on RE050- one arrow on the outside and one on the inside both pointing the same direction as the tire stands. I have not looked at asymmetrical tires but I expect them to be marked with something like "mount this side out." A tire with both charactics would have both markings.

Def:
Symmetrical- correspondence in size, shape, and relative position of parts on opposite sides of a dividing line or median plane or about a center line.

Asymmetrical- not symmetrical.
