Default Need Some Noobie Info, help me out..

Hello all,
I am a big fan of the Z cars, G35 coupes, and Altimas. Great site, I am beginning to learn in hopes of buying an Altima as a daily driver next year.

But to the point of this thread...

A friend of mine is leasing a new 350Z vert auto. Great car, actually my first driving experinece in a Z car (atleast a nissan Z car). It is Pewter with tan seats and a black top.

He is wondering about bolt on modifications that would be easily removed and returned to stock at the end of the lease. Mainly intake and possibly computer mods that could be flashed back to stock. Are these worth while in the Zs? I know the big name tuners like Stillen offer packages, anyone have any experience? Any dyno results?

My guess is that these cars are pretty maxed out from the factory in the bolt on and tuning area. (28x HP out of 3.5L is pretty impressive). Any worth while bolt-ons out there?

TIA,
-Nick

Usually, intake and exhaust are the best bang for the buck when enhancing performance. An intake kit is easily removed for return back to stock. The exhaust could use a bit of work, i.e., opened up and have a crossover installed, but the system is not as easily removed unless it is only clamped in place vs. welded.

I assume there are specific ECU flashes available for performance packages, such as a turbo or supercharger kit but I am not aware of a specific Z flash in a Hypertech or SuperChips programmer. I bet there are some flashes available which allow you to plug in the laptop to the data port and install them. I'd be careful about that, however. One missing line of code or a missing set of data within a line could possibly kill the ECU and the Z is No Go.

Thanks for the info, I am not at all familliar with these types of cars. What kind of performance gains would you expect from an intake?

Why mod it then take them off when the lease is up? I'd leave it stock.
