450z? WTF?
Nissan/Infiniti continues to waste their great V8s going all the way back to the VH45DE launched in the Q45. This was an excellent engine that was wasted in a two ton car and a 4 speed slushbox with long gears.
Nissan needs to use the V8 in something else besides their luxo barges. Hook it up to a 6 speed, and all my complaints about the Z would be silenced.
That engine is so much better then the VQ. It is so smooth to redline, never feels like its out of gas towards the top end of things.
That engine in the Z would yield impressive top end performance, something the current Z lacks.
Please Nissan please stop being a bunch of blowhards and put in a bigger engine. Sure it "doesn't need it, sure the V6 is perfectly balanced, but that never stopped anyone else like AMG or BMW or domestic car makers.
The engine doesn't weigh much more, so I see no negatives

Would be wiser to keep the V6 line going as well with a V8 AWD line? But would they really make a 430hp V8 Z when the GTR is coming out? I think not... But neverless if they made a V8 AWD Z, or just a V8 Z i would get it.
Well they certainly don't want to push to close to the GTRs HP number, and since we don't know what that is quite yet.... It better be closer to 500 then 400 hp.
Still the 4.5 V8 puts out 340 hp in the Infinitis and it could easily be massaged to closer to 400 without stepping on the GTRs turf.
Everything else is becoming faster, the Z needs to follow suit.

Translation done: With the success of the 350z coupe in the US, Nissan intends to go further with it and wants to lunch in 2005 in the US a super Z called 450Z. They will share the same structure and modern design. However the rest will change with a 4.5l V8 instead of the V6 that is common in numerous GT Race in Japan. It should have about 430 horses , compared to the 280 horses from the 350z. The tranny will have a six speed manual gearbox and will also be 4 wheel drive. Smaller than other coupe with comparable engine power, the 450z will also be lighter. Performance wise, the 450z will be in the same league as the Porsche 911 Carrera and the Maserati 4.2 GT who also has a big V8.

It's rumored - emphasis on rumored - that Nissan may very well build a Z with the 4.5L VK45DE V8 and go racing. The Z has enjoyed GT success with the turbo VQ V6 but a production equivalent does not exist limiting their options for competition globally.
Naturally, a long nose would be used as a basis if such a car were ever to exist.
Projected cost of entry? ~$50-55,000US

They made the same thing with the 350z mind you... the new skylne(g35coupe) is nothing but a fancy 2+2 copy of the Z.
With the RX8 talking about TT and the Supra supposedly on it's way to the production market. The 350z would be a turd compared to those cars... unless you got some FI
REPOST...
That was an old rumor about a 4.5L replacement in 2005.
Maybe in 2008-09 when the redesign is up... But I could see them putting a de-tuned version of the 3.0v6 tt rumored to go in the new Skyline...

Well, if they do decide to build it, I will come. But they better have a stronger trans for this one! I don't think the unit designed for the VQ engine will hold up under the HP and torque of the proposed engine in the "450Z".
The race versions of the 350 (those running in the Grand Am series) are sporting a V8...though technically it's an Infiniti V8. Since they're already running the engines in our chassis, it wouldn't be that much of a stretch I think to make a street version.
If they did it and it wasn't horrendously priced....that might be the car to make me put my 350 aside.

I highly doubt you will see any major changes to the 350z until 2007-2008. At that time they will definatly up the HP to compete with the new Supra coming out. As history has shown us every generation gets more HP until the car gets to expensive and dies out...
The right idea BMW has is that they never supercharge their M series... M3, M5 and M6 all pull out 333, 500, 500 HP respectively without the engine being super or turbocharged. I hate AMG (although I would never be able to afford the higher end models like the CL or SL in my life!) because they supercharge the **** outta everything. They just aren't as good as the M series... but there are a lot more of them.
Nissan needs to do this (IE not super or turbocharge) to earn my respect for the higher end model Z... if it will even come out.

Your reasoning doesn't make sense
A 400Z or 450Z is always a possibility, but one of the drawbacks is weight distribution. The 350Z has about a front to rear weight distribution of 52 to 48 percent. Of course a bigger engine means added weight in front.
