Default flat tire

I have a 2005 z 17 inch tires. I had a mail in the tire about a month ago. Took it and had it plugged. Worked great til now. Everday my psi sensor is on and i have 24 psi in right rear tire.

The question i have is can or should i use fix-a- flat? If i can should i deflate the tire completly?

If can not use the fix-a-flat, do i need to replace both rear tires? What about the alignment?

Thanks for all the help in advance!

The plug may or may not fix the leak. Just watch the tire pressure. If your losing 5 psi/month, you may be able to live with it. If your losing 5 psi/day, that’s another story. Time for a new tire.

“Fix-a-leak” is a temporary fix to get you to someplace to get the tire repaired. Its liquid glue. Have you seen the inside of a wheel and tire after someone has used fix-a-leak? It isn’t pretty.

Do not use "Fix-a-Flat" it can cause the tire to become unbalanced.....you should never really plug a tire. Always spend the extra cash and get it patched, it really is the only way to go if you pick up a nail or such! You can still take it to a shop and getted it patched!

To get the tire patched is only about $20 (even less, depends where you go), never use the liquid, unless you don't have any other choice.

Yes I have many a time. PLEASE DO NOT USE THAT STUFF. When you take your tire to a tire shop and they see that crap in there they are not going to take the time to remove it either. Most of the time it turns into really bad smelling water and can definitely cause balancing problems. Also remember good tire shops will only patch tires where the hole is at least a patch width away from the edge of the tire. If it is too close to the sidewall it will flex too much and can leak again. In that case you will need a new tire.

costco and sam's club will patch tires (regardless of where you bought it) if you are a member however I've heard they take a while getting to it if they're busy so it might be better to just pay $20 someplace else.

Some places will just patch it for free, and you can tip the guy who does it if you want. $5...

It sounds like fix-a-flat will damage the $250 tire pressure sensors as well. Can anyone confirm this?

I used this "can of air" stuff a while back called "Super X", but it included a vinyl acetate copolymer of some sort that would supposedly seal leaks.

On the can, it said that would not cause tire imbalance, but should I trust that?

What should I do now? Drain all the air out of the tire and reinflate?

I too picked up a nail on my rear tire when I went visit my brother in law, he just finished building a garege and he wanted my Z to be the 1st to use it (stayed over nite). Next day sure nuff there it was big funking nail about 3" sticking out of my tire. I deflated the tire and pluged it then I waited for the cement to cure and inflated the tire to specs. That was about 10,000 miles back, I must have done an excellent job cause I had no loss of air preasure, but i agree it should have been patched. Don`t know!! maybe you should try repatching it one more time, what have you got to lose? Damm Potenza`s are pretty expenssive..

Oh yeah.. Don`t use that "fix a flat " crap

This is a little off the topic but does anyone know how to get the Tire Pressure Monitor to work on G35 18's?
