Heh... get over yourself.

I never said 16-18 year olds don't deserve to have a $30k car.

I have posted in other threads that it all depends on the status quo. If a lot of kids in your high school are driving a $35-60k car, as was the case at my high school, then having a Z is no big deal to you or anyone else at your school.

In the case of people coming in and b!tching at the 16-18 year olds, they are just pissed because where they live, a $30,000 car might be considered a rare luxury item that only the wealthiest families in the neighborhood can afford. At a local high school in their neighborhood, maybe only 5% of seniors even have a car, let alone a $30k car.

I was merely making fun of 16-18 year olds because of the following trend:

They come in and tell the world (a) they own a 350z, (b) how old they are, and (c) defend themselves by inventing bullsh!t.

I find it funny because if I had owned a 350z when I was in high school, I wouldn't really have given a **** what anyone else thought about it, whether I got the car scott-free from my parents or I was working like crazy at a part time job to make payments. But I sure as hell would'nt have bullsh!tted about it like a lot of kids seem to do.

P.S. That's me in my avatar, with a cap and gown on. I'm 23, I just graduated from UCLA and now I'm a PhD student. Old fart, lol

FYI my car was a college graduation gift from my dying (now dead) grandfather, who basically said that life's too short not to buy or do the things we really want from time to time. So look at it as an inheritance, or whatever. Hell no, I didn't pay for the car myself. It was unexpected as ****, because I've never been spoiled my whole life. I know am lucky, and I appreciate the sentiment and now the car has a good deal of sentimental value to me.

All I'm saying is, you don't have to defend yourself. It's great that you got a college scholarship and if my kid got a full scholarship I wouldn't hesitate to get him a $30k car.

i understand what you are saying, but at my highschool, there was only one car nicer than mine, and that was a Z4. notice i said nicer, not faster. anyways, around my highschool, it was a pretty big deal. i would have people come up to me that i didnt know and say "hey are you the kid in that white porsche?" im not trying to BS some story up or defend me driving this car, i was just ranting.

Who gives a f@%k!? If you do or don't have it paid off...if you are older or younger...who cares. Whatever age..whatever financial status..whatever driving ability...you have experienced a Z...possibly the best Z produced to date. Just learn from the experience, be safe and most importantly, have fun. ....see you at the red light, my brothers and sisters...

Well said... especially the part about the B.S. stories backin it up. I am not one to get jealous of people... especially on this board. (You'll see me getting jealous of kids my age being able to drive around in M3s and 6 series BMWs). But honestly... 16-18 year olds saying that they fully paid off a Z? It's far fetched... unless you worked at the local Dairy Queen 40 hours a week for 2 years (meaning you didn't once go to school... or at the very least missed out on a lot of it). It's REALLY easy for me to believe 16-18 year olds who say their parents bought the car or heck--- even when the parents pay for a large amount and then the child pays off the rest. But with almost every other person on threads like these saying theyre 18 years old and saying they paid off a 35k car completely by themselves... nope... sorry... unless you're one hell of an entrepreneur, you ain't gettin' that kind of loot with a salary job at 16-18. And I highly doubt that there are THAT many highly skilled entrepreneurs on this thread... or even this website.

Hey Wired in what are you pursuing a PhD if you don't mind my asking?

Well the Z car isnt that great. My hs had much nicer cars. It is a great car to mod though and thats why i do it. To differentiate myself from 18 yr olds. If you didnt like "old guys hating on you" then why even post in this thread when you know thats all thats going to happen? Not very smart from a kid who has a full college scholarship supposedly. LOL This is the internet and everyone gets great deals and all the teenagers drive sports cars. While we are at it i have a 13" **** and fly to work everyday in my superman outfit. Grow up.

Oh yeah 26.
