Default Nissan ranked BELOW AVG on VDS (Vehicle Dependability Study) from JD Power & Assoc.

Here is a link to JD Power & Assoc.

They ranked Nissan Below Avg on 3 year Vehicle Dependability Study.

What do you guys think? I thought Nissan was very reliable?

Whats going on?

Even Dodge beat Nissan.

i bet the people who completed the survey were negatively biased due to other issues like tire roar, window streaks, oil consumption, etc, but in terms of reliability, my 03, which i bot 12/02, has always been reliable, ie it always starts and has never failed me while on the road. that's how i define reliability.

I remember reading a few recalls with their Muranos & Sentras not too long ago. These could've brought those scores down since these vehicles are quite common on the roads.

I think it is intresting to note that the rating for Infiniti is near the top, while the rating for Nissan near the bottom. I believe only one Infiniti model the QX56 is made in the USA, while only one Nissan model the 350Z is made in Japan. The 350Z and the G35 are made in the same plant. I have owned 5 Infiniti Q45's. From what I can see the quality of my 2005 350Z is the same as my 2003 Q45. Before I purchased the Q I looked at the new Maxima. It's quality was nothing like the Q or the Z.

Not really a good way to evaluate our Z`s. The ratings are for Nissan built models. I beleave the Sentra is built in Mexico and the Z is built in Japan, those are apples and oranges. Know what I mean?? I have no reliaibility problems with my Z at all...

At my old job, there were 4 Minis on the lot, and every one of them had to take in their cars several times to deal with issues. The first year and second year models had a lot of issues to work out--not that Z's didn't have problems. I pretty much had to perform every other TSB.

Performance. Should be at the highest level. NOT, better than most. Mazda 3s are better than most, Zs are powerful performers and handlers.

My rear axle does click though.

As much as I love my Z, I can't help but agree at least a little with the results. I've never enjoyed a car every remotely as much as the Z but I've also never had a car where I've had so many issues. Nothing serious...but all of the little annoyances do add up.

I have had really good luck with my Nissan's. Much better than any American cars I've owned. That's why the last two cars I've owned were Nissans.

Regardless to what they say...everyone has their own personal preferance. I personally like my Z more then any other car that i've driven and will love it more as time passes. Eveyone is entitled to thier own opinion and it would be hard to rate a affordable sports car like the Z especially critics that get nitty gritty with options and small manufactures defects.

Default My thoughts on the dependability ratings.

Nisaan has launched several new cars the last few years. With the exception of the Altima I think Nissan's entire product line is new. Most new models of any car line comes with bugs that need to be sorted out. I feel these new product launches are what's being reflected in the dependability ratings.

I know this was a three year study, but even with my 05, I have to agree with it. In just my first six months of having my ZR, I have brought it in for three things: door handle not fully painted, top coming apart at the seam, and the plastic boot where the latch hooks the top down to the window frame somehow broke. Take that across another 100, and you have a score of 300. Not likely, but little things do add up.

+1. Who cares what anyone says if you enjoy your Z?? Hell, maybe this'll discourage people from buying them and they'll be more rare on the roads !
