Default Breakin and long distance drive....

I'm getting 06 Z very soon but it'll be about 9 hr+ drive from where I live..
so I can't avoid driving for long hour minute I buy the car.. When I did search on breakin, someone mentioned to avoid driving for long distance first 2~3000 miles... How important is it to avoid driving long distance for first few thousand miles? Shall I stop by frequently to cool down engine or something?

“How important is it to avoid driving long distance for first few thousand miles?”

Its not important. Just vary the RPM.

the varying of the RPM is more of an issue than the distnace. i was considering doing the same thing when i was about to buy but i honestly believe that varying your RPM for a 9 hour drive is gonna be a PITA.
if i were u, i would pay to have it shipped

yeah vary the RPM... drive at 80MPH in 6th gear... then maybe 70 in 5th gear...

dont drive in the same RPM for more then 20 min's id say...

Don't forget to change gears.

Ideally, don't take the highway for the full lenght of your trip.

I bought my Z 6h away. 9h is going to feel like an eternity of not being able to floor it !

Why not rent a tow away Uhaul carraige and tow it behind your truck, I would do that if I had drive 900 miles on my brand new to get it. And I would get the one on which you can have the Z with all the four wheels on it, not the one with two wheels on the carraige and two on the road.

Yeah as long as you vary shifting and RPM's you should be fine. I bought my new Z 2 hrs away. Best drive I've ever had.
