guys who cares which one is faster with equal mods??? ive owned both and i know what i enjoy more, who cares if i cant convince other z owners to see it my way. you need to appreciate that there is competition and we are all better off that there is. if it werent for the fast 350z's and others we wouldnt need to make our evo's faster.
why bother quoting AMS' car? you werent driving it so who cares. show us your slip or dont argue with bri, HE ran those times not a pro driver. his car rocks! but so does ours with similar mods.

You two are comparing different cars a 2-door sports car to a 4-door econo box
Now the performance on a evo is great dont get me wrong but its also turboed stock
the Z is not
The evo takes to boost way better
The Z rwd the evo awd
To different cars . . . . . they both have pros and cons this arguement could never end

do few things:
take your heavily modded car and visit a race track (of course race only stock evos/sti) you'll understand then about braking and handling difference
ps 3200 almost 50/50 distribution car, DOES handle differently then 3400 rwd car, but then your car does 11.7 so it doesnt matter

Congrat's on the new Z. I too owned a modded 04 Evo8 GSR. I had pretty much all bolt ons and was putting out nice power:
AEM Intake
TurboXS Turbo Back Exhaust
TurboXS Test Pipe
Greddy Type-S
Greddy Profec B II @ 22psi
Apexi SAFC II
HKS Turbo Timer
Megan O2 Housing
Megan Tubular Manifold
10.5 Hotside
Buschur Standard IC
LogicPerformace IC Piping Kit
I toasted vette's on the regular to say the least. I now have the 06 Z and love it. I think it's a much sexier car. The interior is nicer, but I do think my Leather Recaro's held me better in the Evo. I think the Z is way more fun to drive. The feel of rwd mixed with the cockpit interior feel makes it a blast. My evo pulled really hard after about 3K rpm's where the Z is NA and more linear in the power-band. Like stated before they are two different cars and it is obvious which one I liked better as I now own a Z.

i hate porsches, i only see rich ****** driving them
they are too expensive and always underperform for the money
but i can accept the fact that 350z cant be compared to a porsche
when somebody tells me that 350z is a better sports car then evo, thats just crazy
350z is slow, it has terrible interior and performance is nowhere near where it should be. What did you guys drive before, civics??

Wow nice flame there. All in all Porsche drivers are some of the biggest car enthusiasts you will ever find. Porsche actively supports racing, and lets others get on the track with them. Go to a local event, they are nice guys. Also check out the Porsche Cup.
Maybe they under perform in a straight line, but that really isn't what they are all about. Never have, never will. Similar to the NSX in that regard.
Just check out the latest Top Gear, in which they took a 911 Carrera S, new baby Aston, and M6 to a very very wet Isle of man and unleashed the Stig.
The porsche had 5 seconds over both the Aston and the M6 and it had the least amount of power, also the cheapest.
That is hardly underperforming

Don't be jealous of a 1/4 time that you didn't and couldn't run.

What are you more likely to park next to a porsche, Caddy, or whatever ????
The Z is more then a box on 4 wheels with a huge wing and a turbo.
performance ya a evo is made for that and that only
A Z is sports car with the looks and performance, if nissian wanted to make a performance car, they would have added a turbo and ditched the heated seats, nav, and the other stuff you wont find in a EVo or Sti
There to different cars
One has the looks and performance to go with the looks thats the way it was designed
A evo is for performance thats what it was made for, not to pull up and park it valet next to the other 60,000 and up [B]Sports cars
Oh and I drove a 99 modded out GSX which its heavy as* stuck w/ and beat evos

How is the performance of a Z terrible?
What does that make say an RX8?
You don't see to understand the difference between a purpose built 2 seater versus a well engineered previous econo box that has been made a rocket.
If Subaru or Mitsubishi had to make a car like the Z, it would be quite a bit different and probably more expensive. The reasont hey can put all that tech on the car and offer it for cheap, is because its udnerpinnings are a basic car.
Just like the Z has cost cutting, so do those cars.
A few suspension tweaks and the Z can be one of the best handling cars on the road.
You can wave your hands all day about AWD. I'll just say this.
Porsche puts AWD on their everymans sports car the 911 twin turbo. They put RWD on all their "real" driving cars, like the GT lines.
Why does everyone find the need to needlessly compare cars? They are different things to different people, they do not directly compete with each other in anything but price.
An Audi A3 costs as much as an EVO, should we compare those?

So your evo went faster huh?
Is low 8s quick enough for you? Because that's where the Z is right now...in street trim...you won't find an evo there.

I think the point that was trying to be made previously was this:
The evo: with basic bolt-ons can run in the 11's no problem.
The 350Z: has to have bolt-on's plus a turbo or supercharger installed to run 11's which will cost you a lot more money.
Anyone here should be able to agree with this statement.
