Default Nav for the factory box?

I'm trying to decide between getting an in-dash Eclipse unit, and something that would allow me place the display in the factory nav box, the one behind the little door on the upper dashboard. As far as i know, an Eclipse (or similar) unit would run around $1300. What i don't know is how much it'd cost to put something together by buying the display separately. Could someone please outline the parts, work and money involved? What are the benefits / drawbacks? Thanks!

For $1300, you could install an awesome car computer for Nav, internet, DVD, mp3, games, and etc. I am planning to do this. Goto link below for information. Use "Search" and type: "350z install" to see people's installations.
