Talking Mr. K Takes, err cuts the cake

Mr. K Honored us with his presence on Friday at the Nissan Corporate campus at Mr. K's Cafeteria! Many thanx to all of the Nissan Personnel who helped set this up, you know who you are.

The Guest of Honor was in Prime form, and as long as Mrs. K and his son were back at the hotel, he indulged in his long time favorite American Meal - Patty melt, Onion Rings. Honest Injun folks, you ask the man what his favorite food is - Patty melt, Onion rings.

It was great to see him, 92 years and still going strong !!! Thanx to all the Z club members from San Deigo, L.A. and AZ for coming out!!

Cheers!

Zed

Scourge.... thanks.

The pictures are...simply... stunning.... and emotional.

There was a special regarding him and the Z that was aired on TV in Japan about 6 months ago.

What a visionary... who perhaps remains more popular and well known in the US that he does in Japan.

patty melts and onion rings.... !!

Well, Actually, Mr. K's Birthday (Cause we know he's not too vain about the fact) is Sept 15, 1909. He's the only Person I know that can call my Grandfather (B Mar 30, 1910) a young pup. lol

That would make Mr. K 92.80327438594 years old, or in 2 1/2 months, the man clicks over 93 on the odometer.

I've had the honor of travelling with him for MANY miles, on a number of occasions, and the only thing that bothers him is if we forget the Soy sauce or the hot Mustard in the car when we stop for food. He also has the art of the cat-nap down to a science.

I drove with him to the Franklin mint in 1997, when the Mint people brought up the proposal of the Datsun 240Z to be the first Japanese car the Mint would make, and Mr. K Took it to the Nissan brasss, as FM could not penetrate the corporate U.S. shell to get a direct and final answer.

Being in Detroit in October 1998 and watching him being inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame was definitely a highlight of my travels with him, and I rather find he considers that a relevant night of his life. His accomplishments for the Nissan corporation are what allows Nissan-USA to exist today.

Pity is, many people at Nissan do not respect that his spirit of adventure, and enthusiasm for the car biz helped build Datsun into a respectable car label in a time when things Japanese were a little difficult to convince the American market to buy.

Datsun Saves!!

Cheers!

Talking Posters behind Mr. K

They were available about the same time. I have a few of the 1996 Issued ZCCA Z legend print signed by Mr. K remaining, with three signed by John Morton and Steve Millen,(upper left hand poster) numbered with COA out of a 2000 print run.

<img src=http://us.f1.yahoofs.com/users/4cf919f5/bc/ebay/zposter2.jpg?bcHHYS9AAKcIXJNT>

I have some serial # 1266-1270, and some 1912-1924, and a couple in the 1970-1996 range ( I try to match the serial # with a Model year owner when possible.)

The one world one car posters (right hand poster) are all sold out a couple years ago, but we are looking into a new run of posters with the almighty 350Z included. (Now that we Z nuts know what the darn thing is gonna look like!)

The question is what color 350Z to add to the poster, (White ain't the answer).

Cheers!

Zed - Failed to pre-order even though my local dealers were working me the smoking deal, cause.....

First Convertible 350Z off the line iZ mine. (mebbe second)
