Question Went to the DEALERSHIP!!!!!! HELP!

This weekend i went to dallas from houston and On saturday i went to the dealership with my dad for some preowned Z's and i went to several dealers and this is what i got quoted:

04 350z Touring, Auto, 20k miles for $24900 + TTL

03 Touring Auto 14k miles around 223-24 and this was a prvivate dealership my dad didnt like it because he thought it been in some kind of damage.

My FAVORITE I TEST DROVE THIS ONE: 05 Enthu. Auto with 5k miles - 27,500 OTD with tax etc... I even told them a NEW 05 Enthu goes for 28k OTD

Man they were asking way too much for these cars can yall give me some suggestions on the price i got quoted and what yall would pay???

Thanks

just one question why an auto? get a manual =) lot more fun, and you save about 1,200 dollars on the price... anyway i just got my 06 Daytona blue Enthusiast 6 speed brand new for 30k OTD. if you like all the luxury stuff in a car then get a used touring and carfax it or something.. ive seen new touring models go for 38-39k because of markup and such. if you negotiate correctly you can probably find a new Z for invoice...

then why dont you try to find a used one private party that is still under factory warranty? buying from private party is much cheaper than dealers. check your local autotrader or or any auto trading source and see what the average price of the cars you want are running for.. then when you look around you have a avg price in mind and you can probably haggle them down by threatening that you can find a better deal elsewhere.

I'm in the Houston area...there is probably a surplus of these cars. At SW Baker-Jackson there are usually 3-5 used Z's and 3-5 new ones in stock. I think the prices you've mentioned are on the high side. As imseksy suggested you may want to consider a manual...houston traffic isn't bad and the 6 speed really adds to the fun. I don't like private dealer cars (there are a lot of repaired cars there)...so I'd stick to the other two. Given all the changes I'd save up and get an 06 though...I have a feeling it will be a much better experience.

Thats what i did before i went to dallas. i looked on Autotrader 2 days before i went i called up about 10 dealers and then i went to there and thats how i got those quotes. I tried to tell them i can get a new one for 28k OTD but nothing happened we walked out and left. It was on Saturday so lets see what happens on Monday if they give us a call back.

My parents wont let me get a MT because what if i have to let my bro drive it. How much are 03 and 04 Z's going for my dad wants one for under $24,000. If its touring with good miles i will only pay up to 24 and enthu i will pay less than 24 this is with OTD. Yoou think i can get a Z around my price range? Also, I want my milage to be under 20k

so you are just looking for ANY kind of Z? so it can be base? new base goes for 26k im sure you can find a used base model with 20k miles on it for 22-23k. but if i were you id look into at least an enthusiast as 03-05 Z's aren't created as equal as 06 Z's in terms of their trim and standard equipment. and plus for the price of an enthusiast you are getting more things for your dollar, most notable cruise control, LSD, and traction control, along with HID headlights (in the 03-05 models, 06 EVERY Z gets HID's) and small things like auto dim mirrors and things.

if you can afford this:
1) get a new car
2) at least enthusiast edition... for HIDs and LSD
3) try to get '04 and up....
4)* get a manual trans! - you bro can take some driving lessons. and in a long run it it more fun to drive stick.

as my friends say it: "a new car is like a virgin.... you know that you are the first one (and nobody wants to be second)"

now seriously, if you can afford it - get a new one. I would rather get a new base or enthusiast then a used touring... buy maybe its just me.

good luck on your purchase.

First get a manual, screw your brother
Second like mention before buy from a private party-- those prices you list IMO are way to high you can get a mint 03-04 enthu. for around 19-20K.

Htownplaya, you can definitely get an 03 touring Z for UNDER $23k. Your problem seems to be that you're looking for used cars at dealers...that doesn't often turn out well. Look in the classifieds, auto trader, and this forum. I still recommend you buy a new car...you can get a new base for pretty close to what you want to spend. You can always upgrade the headlamps and diff later (if those matter to you).
Just my $.02.

screw your brother.... hahahahha thats funny. but really though.. one day behind the manual Z and your brother should be able to know how to drive it. if he has a license he can learn. and another question is this YOUR car or yours and your brothers?

I need a Enthu and i need AT, as much as eveyrone loves MT SO DO I! But theres other factors too for which my parents would even let me buy the Z. I am paying the down and they might do the payments not sure yet. Dont want a Base. I guess i am going to wait until i find a good deal. My dad does not want to make so much payments on teh car, we are looking around 300-350/month

tell them a manual gets better gas mileage (even though in the Z's case it gets the same no matter if its AT or MT) and that it will save you guys 1,500 dollars (in reality it will save you probably 1,200) but hey you gotta lie sometimes if you really want something =) make the manual seem like its the best choice economically and fundamentally.

The prices that you were quoted are reasonable. The demand for pre-owned 350Zs is good, so if you want to play, you have to pay.

BTW why did you go with your father?

you can easily make the 300-350 payment but you'll need a $5K down and thats on a 20K car, So I hope you got some cash on you else you can forget the cars the dealer prices
. But once again I really recommend a private party just do your home work on the car, you'll save money and you'll get a feel on how the car was treated based on the person your buying it from
Finding a bank that will fiance a private party car is not to hard but there is normally a higher interest rate but you'll still come ahead versus a dealer

Yes we are thinking about putting 5k down. My dad wants to only pay up to 300-350 in payments. Why will i not go with my dad? I am 19.

to hit the 300-350 payments on a 20-22K car you need 5K down and a 5 year loan with no higher then 9% interest
