Nissan 450Z in the works???
how much does a TT kit weigh? Between the turbos, piping, IC, brackets, and whatever else there is, it has to be pretty noticable. How does that compare to the difference in weight between a V6 and a V8?
Around 100 lbs more for a TT with IC & Piping. I'm afraid of a redesign of the body, the current body makes the Z the hottest looking sports car out right now imo, and if they change it... not sure I'm gonna like it.
Do me a favor and just stop production. Why should I spend my $$ if a more powerful Z is on the horizion? This is what I hate about cars!!
So should I go F/I or wait? For $45k there is alot of options out there. Used Viper GTS sounds like a winner or used 911, M3...
The GT-R sould be the one that battles Porsche...the Z car should continue to battle the RX-8, next gen Supra and Rustang.
UUUGGGHHH!!!!
But we will know more once the new G comes out. Whatever motor is in that will be in the next Z.

You know if you try and keep up with the latest version of a car your going to drive yourself nuts. I plan to hold onto this z for a while and i will be doing FI so i don't care if a v8 comes out. I think this current z is a timeless design. Much like a supra or rx7. You just mod it to compete with the newer faster cars. If i see a nice modded supra drive by on the highway it doesn't look old to me.
i guess the ideal 2008 450Z should have a MSRP of about 39 grand.....an allwheel drive version would be around 45 grand.....with leather interior and navigation would jack it up to 50ish. Base hp would be around 349....with some bolted on mods it would be closer to 387 ....0-60....3.9seconds..
a base v8 could easily be 35k and ill tell you since the z came out ive wanted one bad ,now thell need to put a v8 in the car to get me interested again . this car is a looker the best looking car under 100k IMOP but its becoming a boat and needs a infusion of muscle .
Best looking car under 100k? Look closer. Just add a TT set for you folks that dont have one or havent been behind the wheel of a Z with one then you will stop worrying about your power needs and give up on a gas guzzling v8 that is just unneccessary.
The only reason i can think of Nissan not dropping a v8 into a Z car is that, the Z car has always been a V6 car. All the iterations of the Z car have only had v6 engines.

sure all iterations of previous Z cars had v6 engines, but doesn't mean that the car can't evolve eventually into a v8... There's a certain limitation to what you can do with a v6 and what you can do with a v8, and if Nissan's ready to cross that limitation then more power to them.
People need to stop smoking teh internet crack. Someone please provide me a solid business case for stuffing a V8 into the FM platform during the middle of its life cycle? Regardless of sales it would be difficult to push a V8 Z globally. While we're at it, please tell me how a company is willing to cannibalize not only sales (GT-R) but also marketing dollars on a 3 year old car. Let's remember this is America home of domestic muscle and if you're going to stuff a V8 into a sports car, you best not do it to your middle sports car while your upcoming halo car gets 2 less cylinders. And Super GT homologation for a V8 isn't on Nissan's wishlist without the air restricters considering the current Super GT Fairlady Z makes more power and torque at lower RPM than the Supra V8's.

400z?? would a bored out vq drive like a truck motor? seems a little too big for a sports car v6? has anyone driven a frontier or anything? i read somewhere that the frontier v6 has the same 6 spd tranny as the 350z...

I'm wondering if the larger V8 engine would significantly offset the 53/47 weight distribution.
I'll believe it when I see it, I guess. I've been reading about the 450Z rumors for months now.

The Mustang is taking allot of sales away from the Z right now. Makes sense to offer a V6 Base and an V8 GT version. I think it's a good idea. They would have to address a few issues first before they can charge more though. By the way I don't think Z's are that affordable. My MSRP was 36K+. That's not so cheap. For that price I should get either a turbo or V8. Anyway back to the improvments.
First I think it needs a stronger clutch. The clutch on this car is pretty weak. Never really hooked up that great even when new. The added power of the V8 would own it.
Better interior. It use to not bother me, but now I can see the cheapness. The car is not aging all the well. Not a huge deal but, still something that should be addressed.
Change those and you have a winner. Offer the V6 300HP model for 26K+30K. Offer two models in the V8, Touring and Track. Set the MSRP at around 35K and you have a winner. The V6 would be the best in class and the V8 would be pretty much in a class of it's own.
