Shrink the Z backside and you'd have another dull roadster. the length gives is panache. By all accounts, the best handling car of this class is the boxster. Yet there's a ton of room behind it.

Also, the weight of the Z is a good thinkg. You're a lot safer with that extra 500lbs more than a boxster or a z4 (z4m).

Holy ch!t!?!?!?!?!

I learned something new *thumbsup* That picture with the shorter @ss certainly looks A LOT better. I got my car used so this is the first time hearing about it. In the morning, I'm gonna take a look at it.

Thanks for the info - see my idea wasn't as nutty as people thought

Oh I see, mutock was full of ch!t - good one

That idea is not as crazy as some of you may think. With the old muscle cars, they actually did stuff like that. But then again that was about 25 years ago. Check out the muscle car programs on the speed channel.

Dude, doubleu tee eff mate? If you shorten the rear end AND take weight out, you will destroy one of the best looking cars on the road right now AND make it handle like crap by raping the already off weight balance 47/53. This picture explains my feelings whole heartedly. Happy Holidays!

Cool

Heresy....heresy I say!! The "Z" is by far one of the most beautiful cars in quite some time. The design takes elements of previous models and blends them into a modern flowing sheetmetal canvas of bends and creases. Leave perfection well enough alone!!!

P.S. KCOBEAN....what rims do you have on your "Z" ??

I am a transportation design major (i.e. cars, trains, boats, aircraft, etc) and I have to put some kind of remark in this thread.

You have a point in saying that it's evolution of the car to improve performance; and maybe a bit harsh to say we are too stuck on looks. The formal elements of the Z design entail a certain kind of shape. Shortening the rear 6inches is a significant design element change in the rear and would certainly take away from the classic Z proportions. The Z looks like a Z for a reason, ultimately. If you took a ferrari and INCREASED it's rear overhang, just for argument sake, I think many would undoubtedly agree that it wouldn't look so much like a Ferrari anymore.

In the end point, I really don't expect Nissan to ever make such a design move, AJ Panchel did an excellent job on the current retro 350Z concept design; proportions and all.
