Default First Oil Change?

I almost have 3000 miles on my car. Is it time to get my oil changed and when should I change over to synthetic? There seems to be alot of conflicting information out there.

I put 900 miles on my Z in one weekend after I bought it. Mostly highway driving though.

if you go full synthetic b4 its broken in it wont hurt it at all.. it Will greatly increase the break in time due to much less wear.. but in the same way it will reduce wear after break in...

you know what "breaking in" is.. right... you should also know that synthetic oil reduces greatly reduces wear.... i would think that you would be able to see how this can slow that process.. if im wrong tell me what IS right...

Hehe, to make matters more confusing, I had my oil changed at Performance Nissan on Saturday and they used Castrol "Syntec", which the service manager said is a blend of synthetic and regular oil.
