OMG...that's friggin' horrible! Luckily you're ok enough to tell us about it. Were you doing anything out of the ordinary that might have caused you to lose control?

Hopefully you'll get a new Z soon!

Good luck, and get well.

Glad to hear your okay.

What about the TCS & VDS systems? I thought they were suppose to save our bacon in these situations.

all i can say is that i m glad that you are ok. and im sure that everyone will echo it until you are sick, but its the truth. trust me i know what its like to walk away from a hard crash. sadness will turn to thankfulness very soon. everyone be safe out there.........

Doc

PS........i noticed today (in austin) that these summer tires suck in the wet. it seemed like i was spinning from every light. tread lightly.

Ouch! I'm glad that you're still alive and breathing.

If you can recall any of the following, I would like to know a bit more about your accident. Feel free to leave out anything you find too personal... I don't mean to be a nosy or rude, I just wish to learn as much as I can about you, the Z and its stablity in adverse conditions.

Did you lose complete conciousness on impact?
What part of the car do you think that your head might have made contact with?
Were you wearing your seat belt?
Was there any alcohol involved?
Was there excessive speeding?
What did your passenger recall from the accident that perhaps you did not?
TCS/VDC on/off?
Did you hit standing water that might have sent you into a spin at highway speeds?

Get well soon buddy.

My regards,

iboost

you say TCS, does that mean you had the Auto touring then? that would explain somewhat why it didnt hold the skid.

good to hear your ok tho. bet youll wear your seatbelt from now on. as long as you learn something and you walk away from it, it wasnt a total loss.

NO SEATBELT? Maybe I am just a dick but I have a hard time feeling sorry for people with a lack of common sense. When you get your insurance money buy a nice safe FWD car with about 80hp.

well resale value has been pretty well destroyed, how itll affect the car is hard to tell. if your insurance includes gap, then youd better push for a total loss if your near it. to be a total loss I think you have to surpass the cars value in repair costs. gonna be a bit tricky on a 30000$ car, but you could also sue for diminished value, but thats tough if your at fault.

To Raceboy,

How about holding the seatbelt **** bit for at least a couple days & the guy's head clears. I did not see one bit of "whoa is me" in his post.

Please!! The belt didn't fall off!! His head would be fine just like his passenger had he been wearing it. I'm not trying to be a ****, you can't force people to wear their belts, but if they happen to win a Darwin award I sure don't feal any sympathy for them.

Hmm 18 staples on the left side of your head??

Makes me wonder if the side curtain airbag could have caused it while deploying..

I know my sister had her nose broke by an airbag going off..

Just a thought
Kyle

Sorry to hear about the accident but I've had several friends who escaped serious injury wearing seatbelts and all had major brusing on there chest and shoulder from the impact. If you have no brusing, it's a good bet you didn't have the seatbelt on and I'm sure the absense of this injury will be noted on your medical report..

With the damage you report, I'm 99% sure the car will be totaled.. There has to be major chassis/suspension /drivetrain damage which will make the cost of replacement the only way to go.

I'm curious, how many miles are on your car?? I've driven my "Z" quite hard in the rain and it performed great.. This was with about 1200 miles on it.. I now have 4500 miles.

Good Luck and I hope your feeling better..

Now, how could you possibly know that?

you could tell if he was wearing a seat belt if there are slight brusing near the upper collar bone where the belt comes across the chest.

my friend had a seat belt mark on his chest.. but maybe he's just weak skinned.

that sucks but hey. it was raining, you should have slowed down! just cuz the car has VDC/TCS doesnt mean its invincible...
