Default Tire rating on CD

A poster at Zcar noticed that the tires (RE040's) are shown in the stats as R rated. It was previously published that they are Y rated. Tire Rack lists them as Z rated.

Just wanted to bring another spec error to light.

I'm pretty sure that the R simply means RADIAL. My Stealth has Z speed rated tires but they are still called 245/45 ZR 17's.

I think the "R" stands for Rotten Tire.

Let's clear this up, I sold tires for 5 years, before med school. The R does stand for radial. As far as W and Z, they are almost the same. Z means the tire is rated at 149+ MPH. (Meaning it can run constantly at that speed) W means that the tire is rated at up to 186 MPH. Most tire people consider W a form of Z rated tire. I do agree, though, that R could stand for Replace on these RE 040's. They'll wear out in 10k anyway probably, so just plan on getting some Michelin Pilot sports! They're great.
