0 dings. I park in garage, I park out in no man's land. My gf calls me loner. I rather walk 100 more steps than park to bunch of freakin idiots. I always make sure i'm at the furthest corner possible. Even then, I make sure I park where there's only one parking spot next to me either it be left or right.

People simply don't care now. I saw few times ppl get out and slam their door at other person's car. I jot down their model, color, license plate of the car and then once that guy leaves, I leave it on the poor guy/girl's windshield.

However, if I see some fixed up clean car, I make sure I park right next to them. No, I'm not trying to show off, but most of the time, they respect other's cars just like they respect theirs.

Definintion: 50% spot - a spot that on one side of you its impossible for someone to park

100% spot - a spot that for whatever reason, there are no other parking spots around it. You can find these in parking structures, or sometimes next to handicapped spots. Handicap spots end up being a suedo 100%, because the odds of someone actually using the spot is limited, and they often have a large buffer for car ramps and wheelchairs.

Goto a doording place, fix them, and change your parking habits.
LOL that won't help. I park far away where my car would be alone to into the stores and markets, and people just begin to park around you

I don't get how this works. so say you park and you sit in your car and as someone gets out of theirs, they give you a door ding. when you confront them about it, they deny it. so how do you go about proving they did it and getting them to pay for it? no illegal answers please.

Dings are incredibly frustrating. I received my first ding a mere 10 days after getting my brand new 04 Z, and it was square in the middle of my driver's side door, so that I get to look at it EVERY single time I climb in my car. I'm still debating trying one of those paintless dent removal places, they're kind of expensive, but if I could get that ding out, it would be worth it.

lol. in DC people use the front and rear bumpers of the cars in front of
them as a guide when parallel parking.

1. drive in until you hit car in front of you
2. back up until you hit the car in back of you
3. repeat as necessary; using the bumpers as your guide

They were like, "No I didn't, that must have already been there."

Sooo ... I hop in the passenger door, and swing the door a good half dozen times ... I step out and she's just staring at me ... and I was like, "Humm ... guess I didn't open my door into your car either."

Fortunately, I was in an F250 at the time with those nice thick door guards.
lol... had the same thing happen to me(when I had a WRX). Sitting in car waiting for gf to grab something at starbucks and bam. I jumped out of the car to confront the lady but she kept denying it. Only when I threatened to report her to the cops and make her life miserable did she admit it. It's unbelievable how f*** irresponsible and careless people are.

I haven't had one after 3 years so far, but I certainly agree that I can park in an empty parking lot and come back and I'll have 2 SUV's parked next to me.

thats why i park all the way at the end of parking lots where i know all the lazy doorbeaters will never attempt to park. too much walking for them. everyone always tries to park as close as possible to the front of a parking lot to avoid walking. so go way out to the end where there is nobody parked.

I park away from others as best as I can. A big fat 0 dings so far. My car does not enter supermarket/grocery type parking lots...unless after hours to do doughnuts.

buffmanjeff thanks for this info. 50$ is not bad at all. Who's down for a group discount?, Glendale area here but if the commute is worth it I'll go for it. I want my dings gone.

7 dings total:
2 driver side
4 passenger side
1 passenger rear panel

All of them on the style line.
Anyone know how much for the repair?
If it is I am down with the group buy.
Is it $50 each door or each ding?

Thanks

Actually in my old car, I was parked in an empty parking lot, EMPTY, 120 other spots free. This guy I know comes up, parks right next to me. Then he has to run back to the office because he forgot something. Now, I don't know what was going through his head, but instead of backing straight out, he starts to cut the wheel as he is backing out. Now, you would think, when his front right bumper became one with my door, he would stop. He!! no! He doesn't stop until he is fully backed out. From the drivers side door all the way to the bumper. Now, you are probably saying to yourself, that sucks, but at least it was his fault and his insurance paid for it. That would have put me at ease a little bit, if he had insurance, so it was me stuck with the 500 deduct...
And this is exactly why I have uninsured motorist insurance. It cost just a tad more. However, I don't want to come up with the $500 deductable if some idiot hits my car. It seems that in the last two accidents the crazy person didn't have insurance. I would hate to be them. In Cali the first time driving without insurance is a $1700 fine. Then you have to pay for the damage out of your pocket back to the insurance company whether it is your fault or not; if the insurance company pursues it! They are starting to take a few major offenders to court now. That would suck!

I always try to find the best parking spot in the very back. I will sometimes drive around the whole parking lot just to pick the best one. I can’t stand dealing with door dings and most people just don’t care. They will ding your door and not even think twice about it. I have zero door dings so far after one year. Knock on wood; I hope I didn't just jinks myself.

Per panel so you could say per door.
