Default Raised Rear Deck?

I noticed that was one of the features shown on the screensaver off the CD given to us by nissan. Sorry for asking a dumb question but... what exactly does that mean and what is the benefit?

Even more so than just the little hump, the origional design called for the back to just gracefully be rolled of, in a little more of a fastback way, but when this was shown to Nissan designers in japan, they suggested that the entire rear "trunk" lid, instead of just sloping off, be raised, one for areodynamics, and two, to give it a litlle "poke" at the back, something that really helps make it look less Audi TT.

I am glad they did that. I thought the sonic orange concept was too rounded in the back and looked too much like the Audi TT. I was VERY happy when the first silver pics showed up with the revisions.

No, no. Im talking about before they introduced the sonic orange concept, they had the rear sloped off, but then raised it. But yes, the production car's rear deck is a little less than half an inch higher than the 2001 orange cncept.

Thank God for the "raised rear deck" or we'd have even less cargo room...
