Default Is this a problem with all Z's?

ok, my car is an '06 with 1,100 miles on it. I don't know if this happens just when it's cold or not, but when I start her up and start driving, I'm getting like a whistling sound coming from the passenger side, almost behind the dash or in the engine compartment perhaps. Kinda sounds like someone is blowing thru a flute-o-phone (if you guys remember those from grade school).

Has anyone else experienced this, or is it just me?

You might be hearing the fuel pump.

I've never heard that, my car doesn't do it at all. Maybe ur window motor is going, when mine went it wouldn't put the window down slightly when i open the car like normal.

is what you hear loud? I mean, even when I turn the radio up half way to what I consider loud, I can still hear it. I don't know...just as long as the car doesn't blow up.

You will want to check the anti-whistling bearings to be sure.

That flute-o-phone was called a recorder. I used to line joints up in the holes and pass it around behind the gym after school...

i have an 06 also... i think i know what whining sound you are talking about, but for my car it seems like it only happens in 3rd and sometimes 4th gear.

I'll get a similiar noise first thing in the morning when it's cold. The colder it is the longer it will "howl" usually goes away after 5 min or so of driving. Seems I have a bit of a loss of power as well that goes away too after it warms up. It's not the raido or just road noise, it's more like air flowing over an opening of some sort, kinda like a high pitched version of blowing over a bottle.

sounds like it could be related to the A/C? in auto mode it turns on when car warms to defog windows faster gradually increases fan speed, when it warm the compressor turns off (indicator light stays on)
possible?
