Default Door Ding at Barber Shop

On Friday, I was getting my hair cut and parked close to the shop to where I can see it. I had to park close to the right line becasue the car to my left was parked so close. I saw a white jeep pull up and parked right next to my car and knew it was going to be a bad day. I stood up and the dude opens the door talking on his cell and just whips his door at mine, so hard it bounces back at him. I went straight outside and looked at the damage as he just walks away on his cell like he's the **** looking at me like, **** I just got caught, but fu_k it. I looked at my door and it wasn't that bad but I went into the shop where he went and told him he had just hit my car. Of course he was acting stupid like he didn't know what I was talking about. I showed him the mark and he didn't beleive me, so I told him to open his door and see if it lines up. So he did and hit my freakin door again, then he realizes he's an idot then turns his back and say's it not his problem and proceeds to the barber shop again. If it wasn't for my barber, I probally would of spent the night behind the bars because I was pissed off. Neadless to say he didn't want to give me his information so I got is plates and vin to report it to my insurance. They called today to say they couldn't do anything, but I'll handle that later.. The only reason why I confronted him was because I saw him do it and then walk away like it wasen't ****. I didn't want any money because it wasn't a big dent, but then he turned his back and said it was my fault I parked to close to the line. I don't care if it cost $5to $500, he's going to learn this world don't revolve around him. I should have spent the night in jail, I probally would have been more satisfied, but I'll settle with his money and time.

So my question is what would you do if you saw someone right in front of you disrepect your Z or whatever you had?

Get a cost estimate of the damage and take him to small claims court, or use his liceanse plate to find out where he lives and pay his jeep a midnight visit

Not my Z but a three month old SUV.

I drove up from California to Washington state across three days with the wife, dog, and birds ... and 1200 pounds worth of guns and ammo in the truck. We get to Everett and stop at McDonnalds. Since I've got the firepower of the First Marine Batallion in the truck covered by a tarp I have to park in front and then eat inside the car. Some lady pulls in with an early 60's two door, her child kids the car door open and it bounces off my minty new truck. I choke on my burger and say what the hell? My wife yells at the lady who grabs her child and runs off into the ladies room. She stayed inside for 20 minutes by my watch before coming out to be confronted by me.

Same story ... I didn't do that. I opened the door and showed her where it lined up. My wife is fuming mad. She said what do you want to do about it. I told her a dentless door ding removal is about $100. She freaked and used language that made a 20 year career sailor blush. I took pictures of her car and plate and took her to small claims court. She never showed up so I have a judgement against her for whatever that's worth.

If you post his plate number and state, or PM it to me if you want.... I can get most of his personal information, e.g address, DOB, Drivers Lic, and such....if of course it was his car he was driving.

You should have slapped his phone off his hand and stomp on it and told him it isn't your fault, you thought that he could have used the phone as a weapon in the altercation.

I had some ghetto bish and her dyke lover do this to my 97 Eclipse at Subway. The car is in pristine condition. I'd already spent $200 on dent removal. I ended up causing a scene in Subway. Screamed, called both of the bishes. Threatened both of them also. It wasn't the coolest thing to do to a woman, but they were both crack fiends that didn't have a care in the world about who's property they damaged due to their neglect.

Confront them, if they acted like that either say your calling the cops to come settle this, if he's still an *** then say ok then, and BEAT THE **** DOWN.

Sorry this happened to you...though you set yourself up for this kind of risk
when you parked in a space that was tight...parking close so you could keep
an eye on it didn't prevent that a** from dinging your Z...by the time you
saw it it was too late to act...prevention is better...

Are the people in the barbers willing to be a witness?

This happened to me. Saw the guy do it, went out and we met halfway. Told him what I saw, he denied anything, and tried to keep walking. Simply called out after him that this was going to be a hit and run when I call the cops, and pulled out my phone. He got pissed and came back saying "wtf" "i didn't do nothing" etc.. I walked back to the cars while he was talking. He followed me trying to get my attention, cause no one likes to feel blown off, and when he and I were by my door, I showed him. Of course he says no way it was him, can't prove it, etc.. so i pull a disposable camera out of my car and start snapping pictures. Got his first. That really changed things. At first he was pissed, but so was I and flat told him what's gonna happen if he doesn't give me his insurance right now. Then I snapped some of his plates, the door, etc.. Figured a hit and run would never fly, but he was paranoid enough, and bothered enough, that he gave me his insurance and drivers license. We swapped info actually, because I was adamant that all the pics and a good "eyewitness" would be given to prove my case and that when he drove away, it would be a hit and run.
Two weeks later everything was fixed by his insurance. just be firm and don't be afraid to call it like it is. I told him he didn't want to be one of those ****** that can't respect another man's wheels, etc.. and he could relate and knew I was right, just didn't want to pay.

Sorry this happened. That is the worst, although the first mistake was parking to close to the line. There are a few things you can do to help prevent door dings, even if you have to make your girl walk a few extra feet

1. Never park in a tight parking spot, knowing that the another person will have to squeeze in or out of their vehicle.
2. Let's say you have 3 parking spots... the two spots on the sides are open, the middle spot already has a car parked in. Which place do you park in? The RIGHT side because the passenger side door is more likely NOT to be opened (if you have the option, do not park on the driver's side of other vehicles).

I thought I had more rules but I cannot think of all of them, haha Just remember, do whatever you can to DECREASE THE ODDS. Good luck.

If somebody damages your car, but not while driving, Im pretty sure that it is vandalism. Whether they meant to or not. Call the cops immediately. Get there license plate in case they leave. FIle a report, even if the cops discourage you to do so. Then follow up. Threaten to sue if needed.

Fight the good fight!!!!!!! haha

See we get the best of both worlds. If we park normal people just fling their doors open however. If we park far away people think we are stuck up and park as close as possible to "prove a point" I suppose. Why can't people jsut leave my freaking car alone like I leave ever one elses car alone. GUUUURRRRR this makes me so mad.

The same type of thing happen to me a few years ago. I got the person that hit me and a witness from inside the gym we were parked in front of to come out and watch me open the other person's car door and show them exactly where it opened up and hit my car. I also showed where a touch of his white paint got on my car. I then had the witness sign a piece of paper that said they saw exactly what I just showed them. The idiot that did it said I did a lousy job of parking between the lines. I told him the lines are nothing more than a "guide" and we were all responsible for not swinging our doors into other cars. I also mentioned that it was 9pm on a Sunday night at Bally's and he had 100 other spots close to the entrance to the building he could have chosen instead of the one right next to me.
End of story - his insurance paid the cost to repair my car.
