Default Is the LSD worth it really?

I'm thinking about buying a 2006 Base model Z... I really really wanted HIDs and now that theyre standard the base seems like the way to go. I know the Enthusiast offers the LSD and some traction control devices, but I am wondering... is the LSD worth it?
I plan on using the car mainly as my second "toy car" and taking it to the drags on occasion, but not doing any road racing or auto-x of any sort. So I ask you... Does it matter that I get a base instead, does the LSD make THAT big of difference.
Thanks

Also .. relocate this thread if needed.

LOL. You have been a forum member for 7 months. Obviously during this time you have researched the various models, and decided which is most appropriate.

I can’t tell you which model is best for you, but I can tell you the most popular models with 350Z owners.

I agree. I think base is the best, specially the 03 because it is the lightest by about 80 pounds. Also there is no cruise or anything so you can change the steering wheel and put a sparco with a splash hub no problem. About the LSD, yes; it is veryyyy important. And you will know why when you drive the car. It has so much Hp and torque the inside wheel starts spining in turns. It gets to a point were it gets annoying. Its costs about $900 in Performance Nissan and yes, it is better than the factory one. I know LSD come in different types like viscous, which is the factory one, clutch type and torque sensing type which is the Quaife. I dont know which one is the Nismo, but I think it has more plates than the factory. Look at the Sport Compact Car magazine on the 350z project car.

Keep this in mind. A dealer is apt to stock a model (Touring) that have a higher profit margin than another (Base). Most 350Z owners buy off the lot.

if you arent racing/doing high performance driving why you need LSD?
LSD is for putting all the power to the ground on both wheels...
I have VDC disabled and running just with stock LSD
I am in south eastern PA and you can come and check out my car if you like...

thx

The OP is considering a Base model with nothing on it. He's not necessarly thinking of going race-LSD.

If you want a Nismo LSD let me know. I've got one that I'll sell for $500 +shipping.

yes master
but things always happen and non-modders become insane tuners once they are introduced to the my350z forum...
and ricers get cooked into legitimated tuners here

Well no ... I'm not a non-modder. I mod... a lot. I will likely have all N/A bolt ons on this car (less cams) within 18 months from purchase, probably stock wheels but better rubber and suspension upgrades too. I just plan on it being a street car mainly with the occasional (once a month or so) drag race day.

Well consider this, the Enthusiast model is priced as over $2000 more than the base. If traction control and cruise control are not important to you, I would go with the base and just upgrade to an LSD... if you even feel you need one. The parts/labor will be a little less, and you have choice of what LSD to get. In the end you could save some money and have a more agressive LSD than the factory one the Enthusiast comes with. I have the base and plan on purchasing the Nismo LSD sometime soon.

Also, I see you are from PA. You might want to check out Concordville Nissan. Look it up, right near West Chester on 202. Those guys are great. Gave me a huuuuge deal on my base model. I walked out with the Z for just under 26000 (Base model remember). Their service department is top notch as well. Ask for the salesman Tony, he was a real nice guy. And if you do end up going to Concordville, tell them to throw in the Nissan factory car cover for no charge. They will..
