Default My brother has a question about the clutches on these cars

My brother is looking at a 2003 G35 6 spd thats got an ATI procharger. It has all supporting mods like headers, intake, exhaust. Has only 16k miles... the only problem (well maybe a problem) is the car has the stock clutch, flywheel, transmission... basically thats all stock. The car is making just about 400rwhp.

How long is the stock clutch/flywheel good for? I haven't dealt with FI motors in these cars so I am asking you guys. If it is suggested to upgrade what would you recommend he upgrade to? He won't be adding anymore power really. But obviously doesn't wanna clutch that is gonna get eaten.

If you guys think he should upgrade, for 400rwhp what clutch thats a good price is recommended. And is the only thing he need to replace is the clutch? Links would be awesome

this should be in the FI forum, and you should let your brother do the research.

But imo, JWT clutch with stock flywheel should be what he's looking for.

i would suggest you change it out....i got an 03', F/I, turbonetics S/T and pushin' a lil under 375, and my clutch already went out, and thats about 5,000 miles later, with a NEW transmission, clutch and flywheel. (warranty job before the turbo install). it really depends on how you drive it. but its better to be safe than sorry.

You should upgrade both the clutch and flywheel... don't see the point in just doing one or the other...I have a JWT flywheel and an ACT race clutch... turbonetics is going to be installed at the end of March...

Definitely change the clutch and the flywheel... JWT is good, so is ACT... You will not be able to make it with 400 RWHP and the stock clutch and flywheel. I am guessing that parts should cost you are $800 or so. Good Luck

Upgrading the clutch/fly would have been the first thing on my list.
