Honestly ...
once the piston rings are seated (which is in the first 30 or so miles) the car will run fine as long as they're seated the right way. Drive the car nicely while varying RPM and speed (take it all the way thru the rev range, but slowly) thru the first 30-50 miles (50 to be safe), and DO NOT let it idle for longer than the period in between stoplights! Idling too long will kill the break-in and will leave the car smoking blue (because the valve seals aren't sealing) After the first 50 miles max ... the rings should be seated properly.
After about 100 miles ... Drive it as you please.
I've tested this method already... I did it to my brand new 2003 GTI 1.8T when I bought it. It later dyno'd a stock whp level that was higher than most. Once modded, it was amplified even more.

read the instruction manual
1200 miles dont rev over 4000rpm. Dont drive at steady revs for long periods etc etc.
Ignore the idiots who say its ok to nail it straight away, it can cause long term damage, these are the people who will be on here in a couple of years saying their engines are using too much oil. It also invalidates the warranty - thay can, if they want look at the diagnostics to see what revs etc you've done.

the majority of break in will be done in the first 50 miles. so after that just drive it, but dont try to redline it for the first 1000.
there is really one imperative thing you should do. change your oil as soon as possible, like before 500miles. there are metal shavings in it, and you want them out.

**with fist in the air shaking it side to side**
"round in round we go" "round in round we go..."
Break it in however you want. However, I have driven mine like I stole it from day one. I changed the oil and filter at 75 miles, and now I am at 1600 after three months.
I followed this same practice with my 03 WRX and I dyno'ed 14whp higher than any other basline WRX that Mastro subaru has ever tested. I will post my baseline numbers after 5k miles, and again I'm expecting the same results.

Its not a fkn mirage or sports rio. Its a 350z. The dealer assured me that giving it a good hiding in the beginning will open it up and allow it to use its full potential, and coninue to get better. ahhh I'd **** me.
