Window Tip for Cold Weather
I've noticed that the window quite often gets stuck to the rubber seal in freezing conditions. This means that the window motor is not able to lower the window that half inch for door frame clearance. I think you typically can shut the door without ill effect but it's better to be safe than sorry.
Normally I would just leave the door open, start the car, and then toggle the window down button until the window breaks free, shut the door then raise the window again. This might be a bad technique for putting too much stress on the motor to break the ice.
Today however I noticed that you can press GENTLY on the top of the window to pop it down that centimeter after opening the door. Apparently the motor's failed attempt at lowering the window creates some gear slack that will allow you to manually press it down.
Oh yeah, and remember to take it easy on your hockey pucks for tires (if you still have the RE040's).
