Default Trac Control Operation

With regards to the traction control. Does anyone know if it applies only the brakes or does it retard throttle and apply brake?

Here is what I've read about other Nissan traction control systems. Mainly it applies to the Maxima with automatic transmissions so the Z's may be different in design.

"TCS works together with the ABS system and sends signals to switch the automatic transmission shift schedule and reduce torque through fuel control."

"If both front tires are slipping, intermittent braking is applied through the ABS to the right and left wheels. At the same time, engine speed is automatically reduced until it matches the available traction. As a result, handling, control and safety are improved, whatever the weather."

You can read about traction control and VDC in the G35 owners manual, available online here:

I'm guessing this will be the same for the 350Z, at least the automatic trans versions...
