But as for making a Z an M3 killer.. Weight reduction or FI. FI is really the easiest. You`ll be killing M3`s left and right.

the first time i shut down at 85, when i lost. when i raced the other one after test pipes it was upto 115-120. ive raced some in my dads E500, wow is another story. sucks to see theire faces when they see a sedan pull on them. lowend they arent that fast, but once the E gets past 80-that thing hauls asssss. but thats just my experiences everyone is different and every car is as well...

M3's are fuggin sexy cars, with sexy motors. They can murder a stock Z... the Z's simple bolt ons and great driving get us to their level as far as straight line top end racing, I am sorry, and the Convertibles are almost identical performance, just read any review on the M3, if you havent before and are talking ish, you better start reading! But for the money, I would want the sexy *** Z with a nice Vertex body kit, and a big Tnetics Single turbo I do plan on getting either a black S4 v8, or a black m3 with orange interior if I boost my Z, the m3 is such a great car stock.

E500 has more top end power than m3? I find that hard to believe, but maybe im wrong.

302hp 330+ lb/ft of torque. that thing HAULS in the top end. i always thought it was a joke as well. but ran my friends E500 with 19's vs another friends M3 with intake and exhaust and of course m3 started ahead but was reeled in and passed. amazing beasts those V8's are....
but everyone feels that the only way to beat an M3 N/A is w/ i/h/e/test pipes, cams and tune etc. thats not true. with all those, you should pull very quickly on the M. these are just my experiences, even though I feel that the M3 is an amazing piece of work. Except for the electrical problems which i have heard were a problem at one point...however, one cant say the Z was w/o problems as well...

There sure is a lot of talk about the M3 on this forum. If you take a closer look, the current M3 is a 5 year old model which hasn't gained any hp during that time. It is a quick car, but truth is, it isn't that fast.

If you're going with FI on the Z, then you should aim a little higher.

700 for intake....1000+ for exhaust (good one cost 3k Eisenman)
Not much else you can do on them as far as bolt ons go
Cams go for 1500 plus this from a site
"Peak gain was +15 HP. There was no loss in low end torque. The Duration of the intake cam is 280 and the exhaust is 272 with 11.6mm lift. These are the new "cast" cams from Schrick they require new rocker arms BMW part # 11 33 7 833 259. Professional installation is a must due to the intricacies with the double vanos. If you want the new rocker arms we can have them added to your order for $459.99."

Also dont expect any gains from exhaust on those cars. the stock one is so perfect that dynos have shown losses in power, except for the Gruppe-M intake, which runs almost 700 and gives you about 5hp but sounds awesome

My mates got the 05 m3 convertible - it is heavier because of the back end. Although still beats stock z with a 5.2 sec 0-60 mph - although a bit of work to the z and you will surely be equal. Supercharged or Turboed im sure the Z would victorizzzze //!!!!

Most of the Z's on this forum are M killers, top end should be around the same considering both cars have 155mph limiters.
