Does anyone know if the small indentation on the 06 lip has any meaningful effect on the car? I'm curious if there was a reason behind it or if was purely for cosmetic reasons.

Reality - I really only see it as a cosmetic feature. It surely isn't there to ward off rock chips. Can't help myself. Gotta Laugh.

it might direct a litle bit more "dirty air" (air that flows under the car) into the radiator instead of going under the car....

Some countries use a large square shaped license plate, maybe it's for that reason.

 

The 2006 bumper update was conceived by somebody high up in Nissan as a ploy to force 2006 owners to buy more parts. If they want a Nismo front lip, they will have to buy a 2005 bumper and the lip. Their other option is to buy the JDM bumper version 2. Genius, no matter how you look at it, 2006 owners will pay.

I heard rumors that the 2005 bumper was so low people where scratching it left and right, hence the updated bumper supposed to be a little higher. I couldn't confirm, but that just what I've heard on this forum.

i think they are just happen to be part of the new design for 06. Just like another car, some new minor change in lighting or body design.
