Default Gas milage

This might be a repost but I need help. My Z eats gas as if it were FREE! Wen I check my mpg, most of the time it says around 10-13mpg depending if im lucky er not. I've got only 1200 miles on it. Wut do you guys think? How much MPG does your Z get? (Maybe im just freakin' out )

the mpg gauge is piece of crap. You have to measure it by filling it up, run til empty or half full, and fill up again.

you might be braking too much, turning your engin on and off too much, putting it medal to the pedal too much, too much things could be the reason. and sometimes the mpg is wrong from what they say. like the accord hybrid was wrong.

Optimum mpg is i think somewhere in between 55 and 65 mph. Keep off the lead foot. Reset your mpg reading when you fill the tank up next time. I average about 20 MPG. I drive highway mainly, but I get a bit of traffic time to time.

Question

Welcome.

Yes this is a repost. The question is asked once a month. The information that you provide (mpg) is worthless without average mph. What is that number? Thanks.

well u may think that guage sucks but its accurate........ there are many points that play a part in your mpg like, mods, the trip your taking whether or not your stop and go traffic, your driving, if you have changed your wheel tires(they also need to be aligned properly), and your tire pressure.. im sure there are others but thats the advice i have for your peace of mind.....

During my first 1500 miles I got a little over 21mpg. I figured it out by saving all my gas receipts - add up all the gallons put in divide into miles.

I do not step on the gas 'hard' that often.. but sometimes.

But yeah - what those guys said.. you should not base your calculations on the digital panel - get the hard facts.

it's your driving habits... and if you drive short trips all the time, that makes it worse...

go on a long highway trip and see what your mpg is

my z avg about 24 city and 31-33 on the freway on trips longer then 20minuits going about 65-70mph. unplug your battery for a couple of hours say like 5 or 6 hours. your cpu should reset and will force itself to relearn your car and your drivin habbits. Re fill up with 93 octaine and then take a little trip say about 25 min with light trafic adn tell me what it says...an oh yeah while doing this keep your rpms about 2500 and drivin in your highest gear like 6th or 5th for AT...
