I have a 2003 base model with Burnt Orange seats that I bought used last year. Were the leather seats an option on the base model? Were they dealer installed or could it be ordered from the factory? Anyone else have a base model with leather that they ordered in 2003? Thanks

 

You could get aftermarket leather installed as a dealer option in '03. When I had an '03 on order back then, the burnt orange they had available was a slightly different shade than the color that came in the Touring models; a bit more orange.

 

I think the leather was only on the touring model. But like previously stated you could get leather kits at the dealer. They even had a nissan part#. There were three leather choices that I know of: Black, Burnt orange, and black/frost. I have an 03 chrome silver with the two tone black/frost leather in it, and it looks sweet.

 

Unlike American cars, the Z does not have dealer installed options. The way that the car comes from Japan is generally the way that it is sold. Some dealers do attempt additional profits with items such as window etching and lifetime deluxe shine, but these are not Nissan accessories.

 

Maybe they should offer lifetime deluxe shine on the front bumper.LOL

 

One other interesting piece of info on your burnt orange seats . I have a preorder 2003 bought new and in order to get those seats when I was ordering on the internet back then in 2002 , Nissan forced you to order a 350Z with an automatic , otherwise you had to pay extra for the 6 speed .Pay extra for a manual transmission ? What were they crazy ? I said screw it , dropped the higher model , and just got the base model ( which I still have and enjoy in spite of that ) . Your loss $$$$ Nissan . How many of you preorder people remember that brilliant one ? That should have warned me about future Nissan dealings .
