Only once. 4 points for rolling a stop sign almost exactly 2 years ago. I had my Z less than I day when I got the ticket, I came to an abrupt, but complete stop slightly short (1/2 car length or so) of the intersection. I shifted into first gear, which at the time (75 miles on the odo) I could only do completely stopped. The officer's view was obstructed by the brick wall he was hiding behind and an SUV making a left turn, and the officer was the 2nd biggest ******* I've ever met. I believe his name was Sgt. Martin. They had two officers at a minor intersection for the sole purpose of generating revenue for traffic offenses. My co-worker got a ticket at the same location, by the same officer, the next week.

The city of Centennial, CO has a fee schedule that increases the fine for the current traffic offense based on the number of prior offenses in Colorado within a time period (2 years?). I believe this to be illegal. The judge asked me if I had any prior tickets. I responded that I had plenty of tickets but no convictions. He apparently didn't like smartasses, although he was a bigger smartass than me. I guess he wanted to be the smartassiesed.

The officer said I "paused" at the intersection, at the time of the ticket and in court. I asked what he meant by "paused", like when you pause a DVD?. He testified that he was not familiar with DVD players or pausing movies. Also I apparently drive a 390Z, he couldn't read his own handwriting. I praised his command of the English language and lost more points with the judge.

The judge told me he is a big "gearhead" and has never heard of a manual transmission that wouldn't shift into first gear unless stopped. I had printed an entire thread from these forums on the issue. There were posts by people who had the same problem, of people who never had the problem, of people who had the problem and it went away after breaking in, and finally of people with AT who didn't understand the Thread or have the problem. The judge read some of the latter 2 categories of posts and called me a liar and an idiot for submitting evidence that directly contradicted my claim. He would not let me further explain, and is the biggest ******* I've ever met. I lost my case and was awarded the full amount of points and fined the full amount.

Centennial, CO is a recently founded city in the South of Denver metro area, which was and is financial difficulty, and is named after a James Michener novel of the same name. At the time of my "trial" they were writing more than 3 times the projected number of tickets, according to the judge. Another gentleman showed up for his court date, and they told him it was the wrong day, and that they had notified him by mail. They had sent the letter that morning, and told him to STFU and come back another day. My "trial" was after about 3/4 of the way through the court session, no one in front of me won, and the trial immediately after mine was an even greater bastardization of justice. In one trial the judge stated to a defendant, that if his version of events was true, that the officer would have to be just making tickets up with some kind of malicious intent, and that he couldn't believe that could happen. 1) Police officers do exactly that. 2) Tickets are also issued on the basis of negligence and incompetence. I bet you could watch that courtroom for a month and no defendant would win, for any reason whatsoever.

There is a gigantic James Michener quote on the courtroom wall, proclaiming how great Centennial is. The problem is the quote is from the novel and is about a fictional, historical Colorado town, not the piece of crap that is the real, current, Centennial, CO. It is not properly attributed to the book, just to Michener himself. I suspect it is libelous to use a quote out of context in that manner, and I would die of laughter if Michener's heirs successfully sued the the city over it, if only to make them take it down. It gives people a bad impression of Michener, when all their hatred should be rightly focused at Centennial.

Not stopped yet, but it is only a matter of time...

Most of you east coast guys are lucky... in Arizona, 20mph over the speed limit is a FELONY! Crazy, given all of the wide open straight roads that we have out here.

They can haul you off to jail in hand-cuffs and impound your car!

4 times ....less than 14k on the odometer

50 in a 30 @ 2am just outside my neighborhood...no ticket

45 in a 30...same place as above...no ticket....

then....12hrs later
47 in a 30...no ticket..came over the crest of a big hill in town and was planning on flying down the hill when I saw the cruiser in the other direction...think I got off this one 'cuz I had my 75yo father with me and I pulled over as soon as I saw the cruiser...he pulled up along side me and hollered at me "slow it down speedy"...LOL...yes officer, thank you

once in Maine for doing 70 in a 55...I think I got off on this one 'cuz he was shocked that I had just washed my car @ 3am..he looked the car over and asked why, my response was "I am kinda weird like that...these bugs are huge up here"...he said, slow it down and have a nice weekend

probably just jinxed the **** out of myself

Oh man that is funny. He asked you why and that's it? Good response man. I wish all cops had a sense of humor. I know the first time I got stopped(not in z), the cop had a great sense of humor. Although not at first. I kinda had to talk the talk. If you sound like a personable person, most of the time, they will let you off the hook.

So what about people who are driving BMW, Audi?? The police should not even look at them??
reason we get more attention than bmw audi is because it's two seater..
not too many people have luxury of owning 2 seater.. plus it looks good

If it looks fast and it is fast...then you know why you get pulled over more than bmw or audi.

Yeah, you bet! I mean come on, really which looks more like a race car? A BMW M3, 350Z, or Audi TT? Now, we are talking about stock form now.

I got pulled over going 75 mph on a 60 zone. It was so stupid, there were like 5 other people ahead of me speeding going alot quicker and I was the one that got pulled out. Freaking sucks.

Default Never in the 350Z...

I've had some close calls though. I am not sure if they helped, but I have two police sponsor stickers on my rear windshield. One is for the regular police and one is for the sheriff's department. I really do support them as I have older stickers on my grocery getter (which I forgot to register for over a year and my gf gets pulled over and gets a warning). In most states, you definitely want to avoid getting pulled over by a state trooper.

1. Heading home from clubbing with my pals up the freeway. No one is around so I'm doing 80mph behind someone who is doing 90mph. Cop pulls behind me quickly (he was gaining speed on me so quickly and came literally out of nowhere), then changes lanes, gets behind the guy going 90mph and starts messing with him by flashing brights, swerving all over the place, and finally gets off at an exit or two later.

2. Heading home from work, exit the offramp doing 80mph and run into slow traffic. A third lane opens up (new fastlane), but right after I merge over I see a cop in my rear view with his lights flashing so I merge back. He pulls right behind me for a moment, and then takes off in the fast lane. Keep in mind I was crapping my pants because we were about to enter a double fine zone with a speed limit of 55mph.

Thankfully there is traffic school so my last ticket was before the 02 Boxster and 01 Audi S4 in the 96 850 Turbo back in 2000. I love my Passport 8500 and eye glasses. Most of the time I see cops pull people over is when they're driving like idiots in heavy traffic. After midnight, it's pretty easy to catch a break as long as you don't drive like an idiot or swerve (due to drinking).
