Default 350Z Mod prices are too High?!

What do yall think about the pricing on the Z mods. If you compare it with others, such as honda, Sti, Evo etc, I think it's out of control.. especially when you don't get Jack for gains. I'm mainly speaking of the boltons. I've read about Evo ECU mod that gives you like 25 hp.

agreed. For example, Rotora brake for Integra only $1200 compare to $2500 for our Z. Supercharge for intergra only $2000 while we have to deal with 4K+

.. and also Kinetix SSV $850 = few hp, HKS exhaust $1400= good quality but minimal gain for the price etc..

I had a full on upgrade for my Volvo, Bigger Turbo, MBC, ECU, Intake, 3" Exhaust, Metal Tubo-IC Piping, Intake manifold P&P, Exhaust Manifold P&P and a bunch of other stuff and came out at under $4000 with Labor.. I couldn't get hardly anything on the Z for that Money..

Hell.. Look at final Drive Gears, Most every car on the road, you can get a Different Gear and Pinion for arround $200, for the Z is Freeken $800..

Makes no sense...

well any car that has some type of factory forced induction mods will always be cheap for performance gains...

03' 04' Cobra, you put on exhaust, pulley, and tune and you have 500+ RWHP

If you want a cheap car to mod go buy 5.0 mustang and you can gain 30hp for poket change... throw a grand at it and your running low 11's

i hate the fact that it will cost twice as much to FI my Z as it would my 240, the components can't be that much more and the R&D doesn't account for it all, shame.

i agree!!! its hella over price honestly too...i dont think we are cheap people here..but we are people who like to put money that is well worth...because we do drive somewhat of a sports car..but COME ON its a NISSAN! its a IMPORT!!! jeez...i just think its overprice for some of the items...Nissan is the biggest company in japan...NISMO...70% of japan drives a nissan...and they can even lower the price for the mods...sucks..

If you guys think the Z is $$$ to mod, take a look at the M3. $1500 for a d@mn rear spoiler! But I think why the Z is soo pricey to mod is because there is no other Japanese car like it on the market right now. Yeah Honda/Acura/Toyota parts are cheap because they are for 2.0 liter compacts and they have been around for a while now. Evo and Sti parts are also cheap because those cars are already FI from the factory and they are easier to tune. The Z has only been out for 3-4 years and the market is just growing. Give it some time and soon we will be able to buy turbo kits for like 2-3K. Also the reason why bolt-ons don't do much is because the VQ was pretty much maxed out when it came out. I personally think the Z parts are reasonably priced when compared to other cars in its class. 100 for an intake 250 for a spacer 150-250 for TP's and 500-1000 for an exhaust and 200 for pulleys and you pretty much fixed all the things Nissan didn't for the car.

Like Nismo said, I think it will just take a few more years. More aftermarket companies will getting on board and making products for the Z and will create competition. Then I can get my Turbo for 2k Hopefully. The existing companies should drop their prices NOW to insure they OWN the market in the future. Of course I'm talking about FI specifically.

yeah well look at other cars...
you think the Powerhouse Amuse Ti is expensive for the Z
check out the M3 for example...
http://www.bulletproofautomotive.com...il.php?ID=3833
thats 20 grand for an exhaust system...
now the Amuse Ti system for the Z is 2500 dollars...
the samething for the M3 is $5000!
http://www.bulletproofautomotive.com...il.php?ID=3339
...
so you know the Z isnt the even up there in terms of mod cost...

economies of scale > yuo

the more they make of a product the cheaper it is to produce. most tuners sell tons of honda parts thus price is lower.

not many people buy aftermarket parts for the z compared to other tuning cars thus parts are higher in general.

and the m3 is very rare for someone to mod, thus prices are ridiculous.

Yea, I had a z28 camaro and a honda civic. I fixed both cars up for next to nothing, and sold them, bought my Z paid it off, and now I feel like I have so long to go before I can start fixen it up like crazy. That's why when YOU first get it, you have to decide how far you want to take it, where you're at in your life, and what you need and don't need.
I love the Z by far, it's been the best car i've ever driven and I have no complaints, except that I don't have enough hours in a day to drive it. I find myself, punching the gas and speeding for no reason all the time, so I've made a proimise to myself, I won't get on the gas til I have atleast 5 more mods.

I agree that mod prices for the Z are higher than for Honda, Evo, WRX, etc. But if you look even higher up the price curve, you'll see that mods for 'Vette, Audi, BMW, etc are higher still. It's all about charging what the market will bear, and the people who can own more expensive cars can (theoretically) afford more expensive mods.

Not saying I agree with it; just pointing out something I noticed.
