In what state do you reside that you could drive from 14-16?

If you just took one class at age 14, and haven't logged over 10,000-50,000+ miles behind the wheel of another vehicle, then you will wreck whatever color Z you buy. Trust me.

I bought my Z, myself, at a little over 23. I had driven for 6-7 years and logged 50,000-100,000 miles of driving time. Possibly more than that. And I still wrecked my Z within 3 months and did 5k damage because I didn't know how to handle a 300hp rear wheel drive car. I'm sure you weren't driving sports cars in your class at 14...

Even now after logging 40k miles IN MY Z, it still gets ansy and will scare the ****e out of me every now and then. Just in January I took it out for a drive on a cold day to run it since I don't normally drive it. Cold + Z = No Traction and I almost spun out merging onto the highway from a stop in traffic. Luckily I have enough experience behind its wheel now to save myself and the car. You wouldn't and would be in the side of the bridge I almost ended up in...

That is not a flame, although it may seem it. I really am just afraid for your life b/c a 16 year old driving a Z is dangerous whether they had a class driving a cavalier/neon at age 14 or not.

Ok, I'm done after this... If you DO end up deciding to ignore all advice and get a Z, make sure your parents get you some performance driving lessons/accident avoidance lessons at a local track. Seriously, this could save you and the car...

Thanks. I honestly don't care who and what age people drive the Z, so long as they are responsible and capable of handling the car without endangering lives. Obviously MOST 16 year olds, even with a class at 14, are not capable of controlling the vehicle at all times.

There are many nice alternatives out there (in the Z price range) that are much safer for a 16 year-old. Acura RS-X (Type S?), VW Golf GTI, 06 Civic SI, etc. These are all cars in the 200hp range (quicker than many cars) that are safer due to front wheel drive, etc.

Obviously, an immature teen (or adult) can kill people in ANY car, including pintos, but the possibilities increase, I would guess, at least 10 fold, when you hand someone unexperienced 300hp, rear-wheel drive, and 160mph top speed (with 130-140 very easy to achieve).

What amazes me 100x more than a teen wanting a Z (I wanted one since their inception also and I was 20ish at the time) is that parents are so blinded by their work, money, or whatnot that they don't see the danger in which they are putting their child.

It's like, "Oh well, $35k isn't a big deal, and it will keep little Johnny happy and he'll look like the rich kid he is and we'll look like great parents... we probably shouldn't worry that he could be a dead little Johnny within a month or two."

thanks silkk for all the advice man, i told my mom about some of the stuff u guys told me and she said i could take the performance driving lessons if i find a place to take them. and believe me, my parents are not rich we're in the "upper middle class" and my mom is good at accounting and we save a lot of money on our accounts. im not really interested in impressing anyone or showing anyone i have money and neither are my parents, i just think that the z is one of my dream cars. and like i said before i will literally have hundreds of trips around the world because of where my mom's position is. and seriously guys thanks again for the advice but im still looking for you're opinions abouot the colors!!!!!!!!!!

Has anyone else noticed this trend of the "Help, I'm a 16 y/o little kid and my parents are buying me my first car. So what kind of Z should I get?" What kind of a moron are you that you'd put your child in a RWD sports car for his first vehicle?

Strange, you need a license to operate a car but any jackass can be a friggin parent....

Dont get what other people tell you to get go to the dealership look at the colors they have and decide for yourself. it dosent matter what other people's opinion is as long as you like the color.

Settle down kiddo. You've got 5 posts to your credit, and your telling some senior members off is not a good way to start off on the website.
You need to understand, that a 300hp car is usually not suited for new drivers, a few of us have seen, or know friends, or members kill themselfves in their Z's or other highpowered cars.
Lets get one thing cleared-up here.....
You need to attend more than one Advanced driver's ed course. I had done 4 of them, and actually got a licence to race at road tracks, before I even had a high powered car.
Once you get the training, you still need to stay current imo, and make a habit of taking atleast one course a year. I've been doing so since I was 16. (I'm 25 now btw).
Your lucky to have parents whom would even consitter buying you a new car...let alone a Z. With that said...
1)They trust your judgement...
or
2)They are complete morons who dont care if you kill yourself, your passengers or some innocent bystander.
And thats the truth, regardless of wheather you like it or not.

I'm 19 and I have a Z. I've had this car for about a year, and i've had an elder Z before that. I've driven since I was about 15, growing up around faster cars (Mustangs, Vettes, etc). I've taken driving lessons. I haven't hit anyone (yet, thank god), but i'm aware my age is a major factor in how I drive. On the highway, i'm tame. I refuse to race nutjobs that just w ant kicks. I do some spirited driving sometimes, but thats just sometimes. Are you ok with being able to handle those decisions? To not let loose when you can, and to not race the kids in your class who want to really grind your gears? If so, and you can confidently believe that, then by all means, get a Z. if you can't have self control, then you're on your own...
