About to be a 350Z owner in Vegas....

Alright, I was initially looking around specifically for a 95-99 BMW M3....until I stumbled upon the Nissan dealership here in Vegas. Well to make a long story short, it was 10pm and I was deciding on whether a 499/month car payment with 3,000 down on a 2006 Lemans Sunset 350Z was the right car for me. They also offered a 399/month lease payment, but I drive too much to consider a lease. The car is amazing, and I love it. I can afford the payments so that's not a problem....it's just the space. I carry computer parts around, so there isn't much trunk space. I think I can work around it though. Anyways, how much are you 06 Z drivers paying a month? Am I getting a good deal? I currently drive an 01 Grand AM that I'm looking to get out of real soon. Thanks.

So you're saying that I'm getting ripped? Well theyre only offering 5000 grand on my grand am, and I owe 8,300. My credit is at 642 right now, and I don't have any delinquent accounts. It's a base model Z, they've got it advertised for ~29,000. How much should I offer? Pretty new to financing vehicles as this would be my second vehicle. I usually buy my cars outright. There is no way anyone can tell you if that's good or not.. only you can make that decision.
What the other poster meant by "You are a car salesmans dream come true" is that you sound like you have your priorities screwed up. If you're just going to go into a dealer and try to negotiate according to what you want to pay a month, you will get ripped off. They WILL finance you according to what you want to pay by elongating the finance term and fiddling around with the interest rate. So don't tell them what you want to pay a month, thats your own business. Focus on talking the Z down first, THEN bring your trade-in into the conversation after you have talked down the Z, and prepare to walk if the deal isnt in your favor. I can tell you right now though that with a credit score of high 600's... a Z starting a 29k + tax, tags, dealer doc fees, and some other numbers, plus a negative balance from your trade in.. you'll be looking at more like 600 a month not including insurance!
One more thing, look into financing with your bank or lendingtree.com. I did this a couple weeks back and was able to walk in with a blank check to the dealer. It helped a lot and I was able to talk down the price of my Z by 2000 dollars!

Try carsdirect.com they do it BELOW invoice!! in anycase if you already have it.
you can take out spare and rear floring that will give you a much deeper trunk area it works!! i done it too.
as for your deal that is allot for a base but like you said when you have a upside down trade AND low score.. (as did i) you dont have as much freedom as a cash payer.. but they are also right about getting ready to walk there are other dalers that will work with you If they know your serious..
even if you overpaid its the best car to overspend on enjoy it that much more!!

Nice! I'll definitely check it out. You're in the USAF? I've got a friend in there. I was in the Army personally....got out, and now I'm ARNG. National guard is not the same as active, but hey the one weekend a month pays for my car insurance.

It's cool man, but I did go into that dealership with my eyes closed. As far as getting the Z at invoice....that's the dealers price. What I'm talking about is that absolute rock bottom price they got it from the factory for. The price they would never tell you. Now take that price and offer them 3-5 percent above that. They have to make some profit. Just not too much....they can make their boat and million dollar house payments off of some other unsuspecting customer. Now it also depends on the demand for the car and a few other factors, but if you can get it at around that price.....you're golden. Although I have yet to test this theory....it will be put through the grinder come this weekend.

Why pay new for a depreciating asset? Let someone else take the hit, and buy a used 2 or more years old car. You'll get a lot of car for your money, and your money will go a lot further.
These days, it's hard to tell the difference between a new car and a 2 year old car, if you've done your homework and the proper inspections.
Read "Rich Dad/Poor Dad" when you get a chance.

Go to Edmunds.com and create the car on their website that actually exists at the dealer (if you have your eye on a particular car). Edmunds will provide you several different prices (MSRP, Invoice, and TVM).
I would also recommend that you deal with the Internet Sales people. Offer them invoice or even a little below.
